That would be lovely indeed if 'You Don't Know Love' did it next week but even as a big Olly fan I don't see it happening, it didn't happen with 'Kiss Me' although that came out at a much busier time of year, so... Unless he releases the video at the same time I don't really see it happening. Would be very lovely if it did though.

Do you know the first week sales for Kiss Me?

Do you know the first week sales for Kiss Me?

'Kiss Me' according to the Music Week report I dragged up just now shifted 23,658 in its first week to reach #16, even though it didn't peak at #11 until a whole month and a bit later after he performed it on X Factor. It went gold even without going top 10 and had massive radio airplay which his singles always get straight away. Trouble is it's A) what he can perform it on for maximum impact with Graham Norton and the like now off air for the summer and B) how soon that will be given there is an 'impact date' of 12th August listed by his record company (do people still bother with those?)...

23,658.

Thanks to the two above regarding Olly's sales. If he opens with 25k then could it go top ten??

Ellie Goulding has a brand new song out in 2 weeks apparently, not sure what it's called but that could knock Drake off perhaps.

Looking at the last couple of weeks, 25k has roughly equated to a #15/#16. It would probably need at least 32-33k to debut in the Top 10.

The days where you pull the record from the shops after an certain amount of weeks at #1.

Blink 182 are set to enter the album chart at #1 with their brand new studio album 'California' and probably Bat For Lashes 'The Bride' to enter inside the top 10. Other new albums from Metronomy, Grace, Delta Goodrem, Snoop Dogg and Blood Orange.

Are we sure about blink-182, they have sold reasonable quantities of Albums in the past but only once breached the Top 5 (and that was 15 years ago).

I know the lack of movement in the Singles Chart has become a bit boring but I was hoping for same 3 Albums in Top 3 in the Albums this week with Beyonce, Christine & The Queens and Radiohead climbing in Top 10 as well.

I guess blink-182 will be top in the early updates but will it hold on?

I would love to see Olly Murs go number 1 but am not so confident it will. I wonder has Delta Goodrem any chance of getting a top 75 or even top 100 album this week.

Got to around top 20 on iTunes on Friday I think. I assume it'll be in the top 100.

Wet Wet Wet did exactly that in 1994 because people were sick of hearing it

Well clearly it seems that's not the case for Drake's 'One Dance'

Quite the opposite, it was Wet Wet Wet themselves that chose to do it because they themselves were sick of it ha ha

On 15 May 1994, "Love Is All Around" entered the UK Singles Chart at number four.[16] After climbing to number two the following week, it finally got to number one on 29 May.[17] It then remained there for 15 weeks, the second longest UK chart reign of all time (beaten only by Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You", which was number one for 16 weeks), before it was finally knocked off the top spot by Whigfield's "Saturday Night" on 11 September. The song spent a further 22 weeks in the UK Top 75.[18] Throughout its chart run, some radio stations even banned the song, as many listeners were fed up of hearing it. The band themselves eventually took the decision to delete the record from sale.[19] As of February 2016, it has sold 1.88 million copies in the United Kingdom, making it the country's best-selling love ballad of all time.[20]

Shame they don't do that with songs of today

If only! I wish she'd released it on CD here.

Do you know what happened to Delta Daily, and it's forum btw (just saw the link in your sig).

Don't know what happened to Delta Daily (should really change my sig) but there's a new forum here: http://forum.deltasquad.com.au/

The week that Wet Wet Wet deleted their record its sales increased by over 50% to 100,000 - its highest level for 12 weeks. Though they were roundly beaten by Whigfield of course in spite of this!

Surely that cant be true, no way it only sold less that 600k in those 12 weeks, isn't it only 1 million now ?

These are the estimated weekly sales whilst at No.1 - I'm sure these are wrong because it registered two weeks above 100K in Week 3 and 4 at #1 according to Alan Jones, and of course sold 1.2 million before falling off #1.

Cynical ploy by the Wets and their record company to try to equal Bryan Adams record knowing that Whigfield would sell big in her first week, it didn't pay off but it scared enough people to go out and buy it in it's final week at No.1 and in the end there were still enough copies around for it to stay in Top 75 for a few more months.

As it sold 1,880,000 I think you maybe right to be cautious about these figures, I have looked back in my 1994 charts book and I didn't record any weekly sales unfortunately but the above adds up to 1,065,000 so I doubt it sold another 815,000 after leaving the no.1 spot.
