Variation of Birds :puke2: I know quite a few liked it though.

I completely forgot about that one, I had Sola Fide and A Throne Without A King in mind. Three times is getting a little excessive :kink:

Oh I was actually referencing A Throne Without a King but that one too I guess. (though I wasn't there at the time it was sent)

You're right, Variation of Birds wasn't white noise, just noise. The type where I'd sooner listen to cats nails scraping down a chalkboard.

Country is one of my fave genres but I've never sent it as it's hard to find somehting that would appeal to BJSC and isn't a US hit or by an artist like Carrie Underwood  The closest I got was Burning House by Cam but I never got around to sending it and it became a big US hit so I couldn't really. I know I've been preaching to "send what you love" for pages now but equally I'd not send something I KNEW was going to flop on its arse

'Sola Fide' was increddd tho  (I don't really remember the other two, I have a feeling I liked 'Variation Of Birds'? And probably never heard 'A Throne Without A King Pt 2' as I was in the other semi and didn't even listen to that semi  Maybe I should look that up, I like the sound of white noise tbh)

Ew at country.

I could use a shift to hip-hop doing well in this contest pls xx

Just remembered that time I sent a christian gospel song two years ago and it came within points of qualifying *.* That was the only time I 100% knew I was sending a DNQ but just had nothing else at all that I even remotely liked enough to consider that month, and didn't want to sell out (the song was #1 in my chart at the time).

I adore trance but it's rare that anything is really mainstream enough to cross over to the masses, which I guess is why it doesn't do so well in the charts anymore.

I listen to Armin Van Buuren's A State of Trance compilation every year and maybe 2 to 4 out of 40 songs jump out at me as standing out melodically and production-wise from the rest. This is where RAMelia came from, it stopped me in my tracks to hear a half-ballad in amidst so much generic/samey stuff.

That said, very much looking forward to Pupok's entry...when it's done well, trance is better than every other genre for me. I think half of my all time top ten songs are trance - from the golden late 90s/early 00s period granted.

i'm HOPING this will cross over, as trance isn't a genre i've rlly explored much before, but this song completely captivated me!

I think what people (and me) look for in trance especially is decent vocals to accompany it.

This is true for me as in my reply to delta I listened to Armin's discos months ago and didn't get as many new discoveries as I'd hoped.

It's like an 11 minute song, you'd probably be right at home.

I got full on metal to within points of qualifying too. Drop Dead Cynical was similarly the only song I knew I was going to DNQ with but sent anyway because it was (and remains) bloody amazing.

What is bro country?

It's male fronted country that focuses on girls and drinkng beer, like:

I like that particular song though  Not a fan of bro country in general though, I like female country but for males I like Sam Hunt and other Blake songs.

Oh right like some Luke Bryan stuff. That kinda stuff is HUGE in America, idk how one can make so many songs about drinking beer and driving a truck

I do like Sam Hunt. I'm not sure I'd really call him 'bro country' though.

The revised rules are posted, please god read them this time

What is bro country?

What's that also

I used to think country was just boring and uneventful but I think when it's done well it can sound really sweet and hit me a lot without expecting it to :o

Again it's usually vocals that do it especially in a genre like that

Are we not gonna talk about bro country without mentioning the BIGGEST offender:

Offender? That's one of my favourite songs of all time

Completely agree. Trance can be boring or sensational and it's often the vocal that lifts it from one level to the other. For a genre that sounds quite cold on the face of it, it can be incredibly warm and touching when done well or sang with emotion (I believe 7even was another example of this). That said there are some fantastic trance instrumentals, but it's been a long while since I've heard a good new one.

Based on that description Bro Country sounds like the worst thing ever

BRA we need to bring the urban swag revolution B-) Syndare are probably the only nation to semi-regularly go urban actually  need Cremey back too!

I didn't want Cruise to poison this thread with its -100000000000000000000/10ness so I left it be x

No Sam Hunt isn't bro country at all, that's why I like him :P He's so different for male country which I find so samey.
