buying a download requires considerably less effort (a few clicks) than giving a song the maximum permitted support (10 streams a day/70 listens in a week) on a streaming service~ :heehee:

Not really understanding the love for "Dancing on my own". I love the original and the new one is just boring, even his vocal annoys me, the original should have been the one as high as what his version is currently.

I couldn't agree more! Often I really like these re-interpretations of songs into ballads but this leaves me cold. I think it's because I adore the original so much, whereas with recent examples like say the Ella Eyre version of We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off, I can really love them. I do like the original of that song, but I don't have the same affinity that I have for Dancing On My Own, so it being changed up a bit is more than fine.

I'm also disappointed with Olly's new track falling. But like mentioned, it will probably peak in around a month or so..

Exactly. And in some ways I think that's better in the long run, and Olly has always been a big album seller and big radio artist as well, regardless of if the singles go top 10, top 5 whatever.

Where a single debuts is mattering less these days, and if you compare that to 15 years ago when record companies would so much as drop you if your single didn't go to number one first week out that's healthier in a way, and one thing I'm grateful for as a result of streaming being included.

Like you take Little Mix for example. Two of their last four singles didn't make top 10 but had enough sustained airplay and sales to be some of their big sellers, and their album's being doing really well as well.

I agree. Sometimes even if you don't have many top 10 singles, you can still have an album which sells well. One example is Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon' which only had 1 top 10 single before the re-release yet has sold well over a million and is almost 4x platinum.

Top 10 singles don't matter anymore to be honest

Drake is selling roughly 70% of Kungs..

Last week it was 50% on average

That's what happens when you lose the iTunes number 1 effect.

Pleased to see Sigma/Take That back in the Top 40 - Disappointed with its official chart position but it's racking up some solid sales, Hopefully they will keep it at 59p for a while.

Chainsmokers will be his closest rival until Cold Water comes out. They'll will pass Kungs on spotify shortly also.
