Having had a chance to look at the clip, and with the knowledge that I'm risking sounding like the article that Brendan O'Neill's probably already filed for Spiked -

 

It does look as if Jeremy Corbyn did indeed say "stupid people". But if he said "stupid woman", so what? If a person says something stupid, and said person is a woman, what's wrong with calling her a stupid woman? If a man says something stupid, there's nothing wrong with calling him a "stupid man". If you're calling someone stupid because she's a woman, that's a different thing altogether, but if the allegation of stupidity is due to their actions, rather than who they are, then I see no problem using such an epithet. People are using it as a way to attack Corbyn and/or get on their own moral high-horses (both within Labour and the Tories), when it's really a fuss over nothing.

 

Of course, I would never use such language myself anyway, I would never accuse anyone of being anything greater than a "silly sausage".

If I was in his position I’d have broken out the C word and flanked it with words a bit stronger than stupid.

 

The media are playing right into the hands of the Tory party with this. They want to run the clock down to force this foul deal onto people. That and labour trying to run down the clock to avoid having to take an actual position on anything are the stories that should be headline news

This kind of thing really f***s me off - tories jumping on their high horse when they barrack and abuse corbyn on a daily basis and no one blinks a eyelid! Yet he mutters one thing under his breath and it's the first headline on the news!!

 

Even if he did say something not nice it's not like he shouted it st her aggressively he muttered it under his breath and not even lip readers are sure what he exactly said, Christ the night!

OF course, even if this was formulated as a distraction to make Labour look bad, it has ended up overshadowing an even bigger, genuine embarrassment for Labour, as one of their MPs has just been found guilty of perverting the course of justice. She's likely to resign and therefore force a by-election.

 

And her constituency is very marginal indeed...
