Rih will be appearing and performing at this year's VMAs and has already been confirmed to be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award! She's also nominated in the following categories:

Best Female Video - Work

Best Collaboration Video - Work

'This Is What You Came For' is also nominated for Best Collaboration and Best Male Video.

I love hw TIWYCF is nominated for best male video when it's centered around Rih for 97% of the video :')

Don't forget the VMAs are tonight and Rihanna will be opening the show, supposedly with a medley *.*
f***, that closing medley was just incredible. As much as she is a superstar when she performs fully, when she just serves vocals like that, she's at her best imo. I know it sounds silly but it's just that say 5 years ago, you'd never expect that from her  It just goes to shpw her growth as an artist and performer. That just might be the best she's ever sounded, it's incredible to think how she's come! While Drake was presenting her with the Vanguard award, I just thought of how she used to be slated for her vocals and how much her voice has come along in the decade since she broke through. She fully deserves that award, to think of the impact she's had in a relatively short time, on the same level as Madonna and Britney tbh.
I love how each of her performances encompassed a certain style she displayed through her discography. The opening was more dancey and got people hyped up. Then the second performance showed the more dancehall-inspired songs, then the third set was more urban, and the fourth was her ballad set. It really shows how diverse she is and at the same time keeps to her roots.

I thought Beyoncé overshadowed Rih unfortunately.. well at least until Rih's last performance.

Tbh I didn't really like any of the performances because I just dislike medleys. Just sing a damn song! Were those ''na nas'' of 'What's My Name' really worth putting the song in for . And 'Work' and 'Needed Me' don't seem to work in a live setting.

But at least she vocally aced the last performance.

That Stay/Diamonds/Love On The Brain performance was her best EVER! She killed it.

Reading my own words back and watching the performances again I thought I was a bit too harsh! I just expected more slayage I guess.

The main plus of the night was that the performances showed how versatile she really is musically. She started off with her dance tracks, then went to dancehall, urban and ended on a pop note.

She needs to stop snubbing the hits from her first two/three albums though!

edit: Wanted to add that Drake was the perfect person to present the award to Rih and his speech was super cute and adorable.

That final medley was incredible! Possibly one of her best vocal performances?! I said it when the album was first released and the last couple of performances have proved that LOTB is perfect for award ceremonies.

She was incredible.

Does anyone know where I can download the mp3 of her performances?

Just had a listen to the Stay/Diamonds/Love on the Brain performance. I thought she was a little off for 'Stay' and oversang at times, but I must say she delivered some stunning vocal moments throughout. I really hope 'Love on the Brain' can save the era in the way 'Rude Boy' and 'Where Have You Been' did, although it will be even nicer to see a ballad be able to do that and I think people will be impressed with her vocals on this.

The performances have been uploaded to her VEVO page!

Hopefully the 'Rude Boy/Work' medley gets added soon!

This is a link to her other performance medley of that night. It’s not on her VEVO for some reason.

Can’t believe she received that vanguard and done those medleys in 2016 though!!

A nice bump of this thread for people to reminisce over those live moments.

I've been rewatching these performances this week for nostalgia reasons, don't have a lot of thoughts other than if she were to release a greatest hits collection at some point, it would be amazing if she could do them in four "suites" similar to these performances—one disc each for pop/dance, dancehall/reggae, R&B/trap, and ballads
