Exactly  I mean I wasn't even born when she left but from what I've read this is so fitting to her. People on my Twitter seem to just not care because she isn't a Carter :drama:

I've seen people of DS saying they've ruined Michelle with this return.

It's the same rose tinted spectacals that prevented this much needed recast happening years ago.

I never saw Michelle originally either, I would only have been 7 just when she left. But as you've said, everything about her tonight was consistent with what I know.

That episode was brilliant! So many great one-liners and moments. Also Ethel Esquire randomly being the only other storyline in the episode

It's all gonna kick off tomorrow because of Denise's birth as well, should be another good one!

Also, Jenna was the first actress Julia Smith had in mind for Mary the punk*.*

THAT IS NOT MICHELLE!!

MICHELLE WAS A BEAUTIFUL DARK HAIRED WOMAN NOT SOMEONE WHO LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE FROM VICTORIA WOOD'S DINNER LADIES!!

Ergh I am hating Jack by each passing episode :/

Ha I have hated the neanderthal from the first episode!! Him and his lived in face.

Abi is the best one as always, closely followed by the manwoman cat.

"Do I look like my mother?!" *swigs wine down* Class! Also, Michelle dragging Sharon about her fake tan and extensions before Sharon retorts "I tan easily!". So many great one-liners.

Having watched a lot of the earlier episodes online, it is kinda hard to anyone but Sue Tully play Michelle but in terms of characteristics and the things being said, it felt very Michelle-like. I feel like I could definitely get used to seeing Jenna's face as Michelle if the characterisation keeps improving (still a couple of issues but they may just be things that can't be resolved - going back to the fact it's just not Sue in the role). Not only that, but Sharon finally got her fire back and Leticia bounced off Jenna so well. Great to watch her as best friend and even an actual person instead of being Mother Mitchell (I mean, she does work nicely as matriarchal figure but you need to keep other aspects of her personality going).

I got my hopes up at the beginning of the episode when it seemed like Sharon and Phil's relationship could finally unravel. It could still happen but I feel they'll probably just stay together. I just feel like they work better as close friends in a similar way to how Max and Stacey are.

Does Sharon actually even wear hair extensions? It's been used as an insult, probably from Shirley, in the past but I've never thought so?
Perhaps as well as wearing Peggy's perfume, Sharon thought she'd remember Roxy by wearing her extensions? Idk.

And they'll probably be more.

It was an emotionally-charged episode, the other day wasn't there an complaint about a comment, Mick made?

Soaps aren't meant for young children to the people who complained when watching it with them.

Incredible the Mary Whitehouses complained about a few words like arse and bloody  Jesus Christ!!

What is this prudishness??

In Spain you can say c**t shit etv at any time of the day. They even translated Trump's quote no problem

EVen if kids were to hear it, I'm sure they'd much hear worse than what Michelle said in public

I honestly am baffled as to how people are still so offended by mere words. C*** I get but good lord how is "I'll tape it to my arse" or "shagging the neighbours" offensive, it was realistic for Michelle unravelling like that and being broken down to reveal her secret.

They used to say MUCH worse like Kat challenging men to a gangbang while drunk!!

It is bizarre they get offended by mild mild mild word. I hear people swear and argue in front o random kids on the train at least once a month.

I saw an Ofcom list that judged the severity of 'offensive' language and the only word used that seemed to be higher up the spectrum was "bast*rd" and they cleared Eastenders for using that before (when Carol referred to Max when visiting him in prison in 2015 and it was considered "acceptable given the context of the situation", which is pretty much the same as what happened last night).
My main hope is that this is the point Michelle starts rebuilding her life and gaining that fire back that the character was loved for. Last night's episode was necessary but I wouldn't want her to continue with this whiny, victim-based persona. There was a great energy between Michelle and Sharon last night and I think they could lift each other to become the strong characters they were in the 90s.
