Britney Spears is headed back to the start. The "Clumsy" singer is the first confirmed performer for the Aug. 28 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, marking her return to the VMA stage for the first time in a decade. She'll be joined by her "Make Me" partner in crime, rapper G-Eazy, for the world premiere live performance of the single from her upcoming ninth studio album, Glory (Aug. 26).

I'm hoping the fact she's quoted as "the 'Clumsy' singer" means a double performance of that and 'Make Me...'. I will lose my shit!!

I hope she's opening so that I can stay up and watch

I hope she's opening! But, I'll be okay with anything that's done in the first 30 minutes. I really want to see her walk the red carpet and do some interviews right before!

But, as long as she isn't closing I'll be happy. Whatever makes her feel the most in her element as I know this took a lot of guts for her to finally commit too.

I truly thought she would never do the VMA's again.

Is closing a bad thing?

No.

I just don't want to wait that long, lmao.

The closing show usually gets the lowest viewers though.

This should help Make Me a lot on iTunes and radio!

Especially with it still being 69cents!

Not trying to rain on your parade but we keep saying this all the time and nothing is really helping MM become a hit...stability yeah but not significant success!!!

No.

IF ANYTHING. A VMA performance is the only thing that could save it at this point. The song is already benefitting from the announcement. Britney hasn't performed since the 'Gimme More' performance, this is f***ing huge. Let's not act like she just announced she was appearing on Ellen or something. This is an iconic moment for her career.

I totally agree about VMA comeback, but MM from it could benefit only on sales/streaming format and that is a ? mark...I still don't see radio giving this another push...we kept saying this when video came, album preorder, 69 cents deal...nothing changed on radios.
