Also, I think that means no Bake Off for next year. The BBC have a year resting clause before it can be broadcast on another channel. It'll probably also mean the last of Mary Berry at least, possibly the others too.

aka RIP Bake Off.

I'm furious! Pure greed once again winning the day. Love Productions will get what's coming to them. Paul & Mary will hopefully stick to their word and leave the show. No loyalty at all shown to the BBC. Without them, I highly doubt this show would've taken off in the way it has! Look at other rights such as Wimbledon which despite being offered millions more by ITV, they have remained loyal to the BBC. Can you imagine what ITV are going to do with this show? Oh dear! RIP Bake Off indeed.

I'm glad to see the general reaction across social media is outrage too!

Very surprising news and I don't really understand how it happened...this was such a winner for the BBC I'd assume they wouldn't have a problem losing it to negotiations?

Such a shame anyway, whatever channel picks it up, it won't be the same and I'd imagine will lose popularity, so I guess I'll cherish this season while I can? :/ I guess seeing the Great BRITISH Bake Off off the main British channel just won't seem right as it being so quintessentially British is part of the charm of it...I'm not here for an ITV version.

I'm absolutely GUTTED by this news. It is the type of show that will only really work on the BBC for me, plus I really don't want adverts ruining it. :(

Here's the BBC statement:

Looks like they're very much still up for keeping the show but it's too much out of their budget :(

So glad it went to c4, it's much more at home there than ITV.
At least there is still some hope for it on Ch4. Nevertheless, unless they give it a longer time slot, we will have to put up with episodes around 40-45 minutes long.
Better than going to ITV but still :/ I'll be surprised if Channel 4 gets half of what BBC One currently gets. They are also going to be starting with a celeb version for Stand Up to Cancer instead of a proper series :/ :/
That at least rules out the prospect of an Ant & Dec hosted Bake Off in front of a live audience. Very good gig for Channel 4! (though I still don't really have an interest in watching oops).

Pure greed has ruined one of the biggest cooking shows we've seen in a very long time. This is a show that gets everyone talking it has had a massive impact in the last few years and now it's on Channel 4 with their money they had for horse racing rights. Burbe. Do you have an link for Wimbledon on ITV. Unfortunately we live in an era where money talks for rights. Don't blame the BBC. I blame Love Productions who love a wad of cash and not seeing viewing figures high.

They'll probably Emma Willis like everything else on TV.
No one will be able to replace Mel and Sue. And with different judges they will be lucky to draw half of what they were getting last year by the end of the 2018 series. So stupid.
