Maybe it will rise faster on Friday when people are actually expecting new music?

I doubt it'll actually make number one but it should be a top ten hit next week at least

29+58 now for The Weekend
Yeah I thought this would be rising a lot faster actually, obviously it still has plenty of time but I'm not sure it will be #1 next week at this rate.
I'm surprised that Years & Years hasn't taken off.... Meteorite isn't top 100 on Spotify even... I'd have thought they'd have enough of a fanbase to get them top 50 at least considering its not another album track...
'Starboy' is quite good on first listen, it does sound like an eventual #1 but I'd quite like James Arthur to get there for one week.

and it's TOTD on R1 so a #1 challenger should be definitely climbing faster... think it's climbing +/- at the same speed as EMELI last Friday
It wasn't known for sure, but there had been whispers of a Weeknd/Daft Punk collab for a few days now.
I didn't read it at the time, but looks like all music news websites commented on The Weeknd being on the studio with Daft Punk one month ago, so sure it wasn't a secret unexpected collab
not so far, would be much higher, it's not even out as single

I see it's on Spotify too already... but how they're gonna count their streams is also an issue cos Spotify does not report Thu data on time and Thu data is always an estimation based on the streams gained during the week... not sure how can they estimate a brand new Thu release :)

They just won't acknowledge it at all. I seem to recall a Music Week report confronting this issue with a release that was also released on a Thursday earlier this year.

^ pretty sure there was an issue earlier this year with The Stone Roses
by the way, James Arthur is increasing his lead again, Chainsmokers almost down to 0.50 when James is combined
Why is it such a problem for Spotify to report Thursday's streaming data in time for Friday afternoon's chart? Surely in this technological day and age it can't be that difficult!

That's right, I found the article:

Stone Roses' first new single in 21 years, All For One was released at 8pm on Thursday (12th) and topped iTunes' singles chart within two hours. However, the song fails to show on the Top 200, with just seven sales recorded. That's because iTunes dominates paid-for digital sales and also has a significant presence in the streaming market, and failed to provide data to OCC in time for the chart. To make up for the shortfall, as often happens, data from earlier in the week was upweighted - but that's no use to All For One, which also suffered because there was no data from Spotify for Friday either.

Would LOVE Neiked to become a hit!! 'Sexual' is amazeeee  great to see it fairly high despite no airplay (to my knowledge!)

The Thursday rule hugely effected the Christmas songs last year, too. As Thursday was Christmas eve all the Christmas songs had their biggest streams (by far) that day, but it was unweighted instead included.

OMG loving this Starboy song. And The Weeknd's demo isn't teens. When I was in my first year of uni 4 years ago, everyone was raving about him.

James Arthur would be a nice shock #1 for the history books but Starboy is 100% the best and more original song of the two imo.

not sure how original it is to repeat what Daft Punk and Pharrell did 3 years ago already, that was original, doing a Get Lucky part 2 now, that's not very groundbreaking at all imho... good song, all you want, but an rnb singer collaborating with Daft Punk... done before...

still shocking how well James Arthur is doing, so well it almost makes no sense, there are much better songs by much better singer-songwriters with much more promo and radio support and they do barely nothing, was just listening to Tom Odell's Magnetised now, and for me that's 1000 times better than the James Arthur song (and I do genuinely like it), got tons of airplay and still only got to #40 on the charts :/
