From The Sun in the past couple of hours in a "5AM sign to Syco" article:

Meanwhile, Saara Aalto, who finished second, has said she would be happy to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Saara, who is from Finland and auditioned twice to sing for her country in the competition in 2011 and in 2016, said she hopes it’ll be third time lucky if she got to sing for the UK.

Speaking to the Star, she said: “I would be very proud to represent the UK at Eurovision if you wanted me to.

"It is one of my dreams to perform. The UK has really embraced me and shown me so much love. I would love to pay them back by singing at Eurovision."

Abandon national final!!!

Don't let her enter the NF though I couldn't handle her coming 2nd again :drama:
Surely she would win with it being only just over a month after X-Factor. I just don't want anyone other than Saara to be our entry!
LOL, I don't think Eurovision is on the cards for Saara this year. She will be rehearsing for the X Factor tour, go on tour and then she will have to work on her album.

I would welcome Saara representing us at Eurovision, especially if given a good song we know she would pull off a magnificent performance. Finland would also give us votes

I've never really watched any of the spin-offs or shows leading to the big final. I watch the big finale and that's it but I'm thinking of watching semi finals etc this year.

So when does the ESC come back to screens, and when do we find out who is representing us? :)

Well Eurovision is of course May, the semis are the 9th and 11th and the final is the 13th. Our national final is the 27th of this month!

You can join in Melodifestivalen though which is Sweden's selection and by far the best of the lot with loads of amazing songs, there's a thread in this forum on the first page. That starts on the 4th, Loreen is back among other faves *.*

Last year a big group of us watched the Semi's and Final on Rabb.it and it was incredible to see everyone's reactions so you could 100% join in on that!

According to this facebook post, one of the songs in the UK selection is one penned by Swedes Gustaf Svenungsson & Magnus Wallin, whose previous work includes 'What If' from 2013, 'A Million Voices' from 2015 and 'Icebreaker' and 'Falling Stars' from 2016 in addition to a metric tonne of other songs from National Finals. So that's at least one song with confirmed songwriting pedigree behind it!

Let's hope for more A Million Voices or What If than Icebreaker or Faling Stars, but that is promising for sure :o
Tbf that's a very valid point, I have remember this is us we are talking about and even those would be a huge step up from the likes of Still In Love With You
Icebreaker is my favourite out of all of those! I'm just glad we're sticking with the national final element.
Icebreaker has lovely lyrics, the transition between verses and the chorus is just clunky. Still a 100% Jam
