I like looking at the Swedish iTunes (where Spotify was introduced much earlier): http://digitalsalesdata.com/diydsd.php?Region=143456

That'll be our chart sales in a few years time !

To be fair, for some reason iTunes digital sales never really took off here for whatever reason, even at its peak a few years back.

Surprised at how well 'Million Reasons' is hanging about for Gaga.

Would have expected it to be on way out of top 40 by now but it is still staying relatively steady at #20.

They've dropped around 20% consistently year-on-year, and for 165 consecutive weeks....

Paid-for sales are down 0.15% week-on-week at 1,583,250 – 20.01% below same week 2015 sales of 1,979,420 and below same-week, previous-year sales for the 165th week in a row.

What makes you confident that they won't decrease much more than they have all of a sudden?

Because declines usually slow eventually. At some point streaming will reach saturation point. The fact that 1.5 million tracks are still be downloaded at this point suggests that there's a lot of people who don't want to make the switch.

I only just saw this, but yes, basically the above post.

Physicals still had a huge impact in Sweden until streaming took over.

But it being 20% down YOY doesn't in any way prove that it's going to continue falling at that rate. No one's saying it's going to reverse.

Yes, I'm agreeing with you.

Yes but I'm talking about a percentage decline, 20% of 1.5 million is a lot less than 20% of 3 million (the average sale in late 2013) but we shall see.

Weekly sales of the entire UK digital singles market since 1 Jan 2010.

If it is down to 1.2 million this time next year that'll be the lowest weekly sales since mid-2006!

Yep and it'll fall even further than that I'm sure. I'm just saying I don't think it's going to fall to ridiculously low levels. People said the download would kill the CD off but it hasn't.

But for singles it did ^_^

I'm definitely here for Zara pulling off a shock #1 somewhere down the line. It sounds like a song that would blow up plus surely Cowell would want her to perform one week on XF since she's one of the biggest new popstars to emerge this past year. It just needs a promo push.
10. Zara Larsson - Ain't My Fault

This to rebound please. It does sound like a massive quarter three smash - it just needs a push. I wouldn't mind it being used on that insanely irritating Talk Talk advert either, as much as it pisses me off.
