The first volume of Now That’s What I Call Music has already been re-released twice – once in 2009 to mark the 25 year anniversary and again in 2015 for Record Store Day. Can’t they move on and release volumes 2-9 at long last?

This would be much better.

I'm glad they're doing a big celebration for the 100th anniversary! I'm intrigued to see how they go about the voting for a track from each album?

I wonder where they got that idea... :P

For Now 100 they could take one track from every album and create a massive 5CD compilation.

If they wanted to stick to megahits only, no repeated artists (featured credits/later solo careers allowed) and generally being as unoriginal as possible, I can see it being something like this:

CD1

18. (Now 98 track)

19. (Now 99 track)

20. (Now 100 track)

An update to that would perhaps add One Dance (Now 95), Human (Now 96), Despacito (Now 97) and either Havana or Rockstar (Now 98) - if 'Perfect' makes Now 99 then that too, as Ed has to be on it at some point.

My prediction for such a compilation would be (not looking at BillyH's so for all I know it could be mostly the same)

Disc One

1. Culture Club - Karma Chameleon (or alternatively Phil Collins - You Can't Hurry Love as it was track 1 disc 1 on NOW 1 but then there'd be a double appearance on Disc 1)

2. Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax

4. Ray Parker Jr - Ghostbusters

5. Katrina and the Waves - Walking On Sunshine

6. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

18. Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U

19. The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go

20. James - Sit Down

Disc Two

21. Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody [i'm aware Queen only accept being on compilations if they're Track 1 Disc 1, so NOW! may have to fiddle the order so they can get this to open Disc 1, but I hope not and that they'll license this for Track 1 Disc 2. Shakespears Sister - Stay here otherwise]

22. George Michael & Elton John - Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

23. Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You

24. The Bluebells - Young At Heart

25. 4 Non Blondes - What's Up

26. Haddaway - What Is Love

37. The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony

38. Chumbawamba - Tubthumping

39. Natalie Imbruglia - Torn

43. Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way

92. Justin Bieber - What Do You Mean

93. Lukas Graham - 7 Years

98. Camila Cabello feat. Young Thug - Havana

99. ?? [Ed Sheeran]

100. ??

Yeah there's a few on yours I think are more likely than on mine, like Hero for Now 51 - I chose 'Always On Time' because I still hear it a lot around today, but looking at the tracklisting Hero seems the more obvious choice.

The version of In The Air Tonight on Now 12 was a remix rather than the original - if not Tiffany for that volume I'd say Salt N Pepa's Push It.

How many times are they gonna re-release NOW 1? How about re-releasing 2-9 on CD instead or if they wanna re-release NOW 1, at least add these tracks to the tracklist:

1. Michael Jackson - Billie Jean

First NOW spin-off to be released in 2018 will be released on 16th February and it’s titled NOW Remix. No tracklist has been announced yet https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078X67D9D

*Sigh* Expecting most of these songs to be the commercial single mixes that were actually popular. Kelly Rowland, One Republic, Calum Scott, OMI, Starley, Tove Lo, R.Kelly, Mr Probz, Florence & The Machine, Lilly Wood, Major Lazer, and Mike Posner I'm predicting to be there.

Don’t forget “Despacito”. It’s only on 2 discs though instead of 3

Could be interesting, but probably won't be. Despacito might have been a one-off license just for Now 97 as it hasn't appeared on any compilation of any sort since, at least not the Bieber version.

They're Beiber-less though.

I think it'll be recent chart hits remixed.

If that's the case, I want the Cash Cash Remix of What About Us and the Initial Talk remix of New Rules.

  • Author
I hope they include the Mabel remix of “My Lover” and a few songs which will be on NOW 99. Stefflon Don has released a remix of “Hurtin’ Me” which features Sean Paul, Sizzla and Popcaan so I hope they include that

Like I said, not the Bieber version.

There's a solo 'Version Pop' doing the rounds a lot for some reason, perhaps even the Daddy Yankee version original is hard to license.

This compilation did quite well last year, which may have been the inspiration for Now Remix:

I thought Ed Sheeran only licenses his tracks to the main NOW series but according to Amazon, the BRIT Awards 2018 compilation will include “Galway Girl”. It said it on the description https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078Y2TWT6

Edited by Hadji

Well if he's going to win all the awards, the least he can do is give them a track for their album :P

True. I just don’t like how this years BRITs compilation has been knocked down to 2 discs

Edited by Hadji

The BRITs albums have often featured songs even Now hasn't been able to get hold of curiously, like Madonna's Hung Up (albeit the extended version), Eminem's Berzerk and Macklemore's Thrift Shop.
