I still can't believe the extent to which I have liked everything Justin Bieber related (music wise of course....and some of the pictures) over the last 18 months. This is probably the weakest of them but it's still going to be in my Top 20 for the year. Love it.

MO needs hits as often as Bieber though.

I thought 'Cold Water' would pollute the top 10 for ages, as good as it is I am glad it's starting to sink now.

Biography

Shawn Peter Raul Mendes (born August 8, 1998) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and model. He attracted a following in 2013, when he began posting song covers on the popular video sharing application Vine. The following year, he caught the attention of artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton, which led to him signing a deal with the record label. Mendes went on to release an EP and his debut studio album Handwritten, whose single "Stitches" reached the top 10 in the U.S. and Canada, and number one in the UK. - Wikipedia

I think Ain't My Fault is a Rihanna reject. Or at least it really sounds like one. Coming from a big fan of her/the song.

Definitely, Zara even sounds like her. I heard Rihanna passed on 'Cheap Thrills' as well. Not quite Kylie passing on 'Toxic' but I wonder if she regrets that, probably not considering she's had plenty of hits this year regardless.

I don't think Ain't My Fault is a Rihanna reject at all, it's just very much inspired by her. Zara is miles ahead of RiRi with her material at the moment anyway.

Mercy being stable this week :cheer:

Mercy is decent atm, but I know I will get bored of it if it spend a lot longer on the chart

Mercy is very good however it doesn't have that special something that I get with Treat You Better.

I KNEW Shawn Mendes would be a non-mover. I imagine this will be it's peak, shame it probably won't go higher, but I didn't think it was even going to be Top 40 at one point so I'll take Top 20.

This is really the song that's pushed me from merely liking Shawn to full on stanning him. If he can produce something this good (whilst admittedly a little flawed) at 18, I'm very interested to see how he grows over the next few years. This is kind of like an improved 'Stitches' in that Mendes actually sounds like he's in pain and begging for mercy in his vocals.

Yeah, the chart is far more interesting right now than it was around six months ago ─ peoples streaming habits seem to be ever so slightly speeding up in terms of change

Praise Q4 releases!

Really hope "Mercy" can fight for a top 10 position!

I have to say though, if you told me to sing the verse of Mercy I'd probably start singing Treat You Better, they're quite similar in that context

Edited November 4, 20169 yr by PeteFromLeeds

Mercy sounds like the weakest Shawn track so far for me

Let Me Love You>>>>Cold Water...i think I said this last week as well lol.

'Let Me Love You' Absolutely the best thing I've heard from DJ Snake that's not "Lean On". Up there with Bieber's best as well.

All these flawless songs dropping too fast

I have to say though, if you told me to sing the verse of Mercy I'd probably start singing Treat You Better, they're quite similar in that context

ALL of Shawn's big hits so far seem to be about him dealing with some form of emotional torture. Videos too. I love him but I do kind of hope whatever his next single is is a bit of a change in direction or he's just going to become known as the angsty one.

Let Me Love You is fantastic :music:

& it's dropping FAR too quickly :(

I have to say, generally, the chart is so much better than it was a few months ago. It's faster paced and there's been something in a rise of the quality of the songs in the Top 40 since July.

Definitely, Zara even sounds like her. I heard Rihanna passed on 'Cheap Thrills' as well. Not quite Kylie passing on 'Toxic' but I wonder if she regrets that, probably not considering she's had plenty of hits this year regardless.

'Cheap Thrills' really wouldn't fit in with the ANTI era, it seems a bit too 'basic' to really work for the image she wanted.
