November 17, 20169 yr How much did Metallica's last few albums sell first week for reference? Judging by wiki, they haven't had an album out since 2008 which sold 300k in total UK and one before that was 2003 got #3 in charts and sold 100k. Anyone have any official figures different to wiki? Cause if that is the case I don't have any idea why people think they will open with big sales
November 17, 20169 yr How much did Metallica's last few albums sell first week for reference? Well last Studio Album ("Death Magnetic") opened with 75,164 back in September 2008. Not sure about previous Album before that in 2003 but may be a little irrelevant now as more than 13 years ago. It may be a situation where due to the lack of new Material for 8 years there is a lot of pent-up demand. Album Sales for Artists of their era and genre have held up better than newer Artists as well. Should be on course for 50k+ surely?
November 17, 20169 yr Yeah, Metallica have a huge fanbase and as it's their first album for eight years it will definitely have big opening sales. Maybe not enough for number one as Little Mix will be huge but we can't rule them out of contention.
November 17, 20169 yr Author As mentioned, Metallica's Death Magnetic sold 75.2k in September 2008 upon debut week (it dropped midweek, reaching some stores on the Wednesday, others on the Thursday). St. Anger sold 46.5k in June 2003 (another midweek release, on the Thursday), Reload sold 39k in November 1997 and Load sold 56.5k in June 1996.

November 17, 20169 yr Looking at AUS and NZ as leading indicators-- Australian iTunes has Metallica #1, LM #9, Bruno #19 NZ iTunes in same order #1, #2, #12 It's other way around LM are #2 in AUS not NZ.
November 17, 20169 yr Looking at Little Mix and Bruno Mars recent Albums first week Sales it should be close 60,053 Get Weird 2015 136,391 Unorthodox Jukebox 2012 Bruno has no chance.
November 17, 20169 yr Looking at Little Mix and Bruno Mars recent Albums first week Sales it should be close 60,053 Get Weird 2015 136,391 Unorthodox Jukebox 2012 Yeah but Bruno had a smash single to help that. His new single has performed poor for his standards! Whereas LM have just had a massive hit and their fan base has probably grown since last year too.
November 17, 20169 yr Bruno has no chance. I tend to agree with you looking at that Album cover... Only thing is so far this year we have had "25", "50" and this week "24 HRS" at the top of the Album chart "24K Magic" would seem an appropriate title to join that list as a chart topper..
November 17, 20169 yr It's probably going to be 1- Metallica 2- Little Mix 3- Bruno Mars It won't be any of those - Now 95 will be the biggest seller of the week... ;)
November 17, 20169 yr It won't be any of those - Now 95 will be the biggest seller of the week... ;) And NOW 95's first week sales will most likely be bigger than NOW 92's first week sales
November 17, 20169 yr Surprised Enigma are o my #30 on albums - they have always been a decent selling albums act and there seemed to be a lot of excitement around this release and the fact they had returned to their original sound.
November 17, 20169 yr Rock Show with Daniel P Carter: Metallica exclusive | BBC RADIO 1 19:00 SUN 20 NOV Metallica kick off their visit to the UK this week with a session at the historic Maida Vale Studios as they release 'Hardwired... to Self-Destruct', their first album in eight years. ===== Next week's #1 album is too close to call in my opinion, especially with Metallica doing some promo on the Rock Show
November 17, 20169 yr I doubt Bruno Mars will be no1 in the albums when he's up against Little Mix. His new song isn't very good and hasn't done as well as his other lead singles and Little Mix seem on a peak at the minute.
November 17, 20169 yr Little Mix will snatch the #1 with over 110,000 copies sold. Bruno Mars & Metallica have no chance.
November 17, 20169 yr Syco has chosen horrible weeks to release Little Mix albums... it's their fault totally. There's no reason why they are releasing next week instead of the week after. Or didn't release two weeks ago. They would've easily beaten James Arthur I would say the industry consider next week as the peak week for any artist to release in the run up to Xmas hence the Now album being released and they would expect huge sales every week until Xmas!
November 17, 20169 yr Little Mix will snatch the #1 with over 110,000 copies sold. Bruno Mars & Metallica have no chance. A completely unbiased Prediction from a BigMixer! In fairness though a big Advert for the Album tonight during "I'm a Celeb" even with a special plug for the Deluxe DVD edition with concert footage. Also adverts for 24k Magic and Now 95 (with a clip from Little Mix Video).
