November 19, 20168 yr I'm sick of Emily getting slots towards the end! She has barely any range, sits down or stands still and bores any song she touches. Can't see the appeal at all?!
November 19, 20168 yr Emily really is such a bore. What's with her continuously getting the pimp slot also? Matt and Saara were much more deserving this week
November 19, 20168 yr Wow what a way to murder a classic, possibly the most sleep-inducing performance in the history of the show.
November 19, 20168 yr That was a beautiful performance from Emily, well and truly back in the game  would love for her to do an uptempo but I can wait another week cause that was stunning.
November 19, 20168 yr its a talking competition apparently. Emily needs to leave. Tedious. Edited November 19, 20168 yr by torresgirl
November 19, 20168 yr Also, why does she dry cough after every performance? It does my head in when the judges are talking and she's just coughing away. She can't be sick because Simon would make sure that every judge mentioned it when critiquing her.. could it be nerves?
November 19, 20168 yr 01 Matt Terry 02 Saara Aalto 03 5 After Midnight 04 Ryan Lawrie 05 Emily Middlemas 06 Honey G
November 19, 20168 yr Author I found Emily's performance very poor as well, everything Emily's sings is stripped back, but I did like the Creep track from her, that was probably her best performance.
November 19, 20168 yr 1. Matt Terry  2. Saara Alto  3. Ryan Lawrie 4. Emily Middlemas 5. 5 After Midnight 6. Honey G
November 19, 20168 yr Emily was somewhat better than usual, but still not good enough for this stage of the competition. Every single week it's the same arrangement, the same (lack of) vocal range, it's just tedious. Kiss Me would have been perfect for her! It's uptempo but not too challenging and still very her. Ryan was beter too actually but it was very dated and a bit cringe. 5 After Midnight were by FAR the worst, their "vocals" go right through me :/ That was their worst performance for me which takes some doing - I cannot believe they are so hyped and applauded. They couldn't carry a tune in a bucket but apparently it's fine because they can dance and oh well we'll just turn the backing up x Saara by far the best, as always she was so effortless and just totally slayed every single note <3 It's like a vocal warmup with him week after week. Look I can hit all these notes. But just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD. This is pretty much what I was going to say about it! As with Emily, it's the same every week. For me, a good performance doesn't have to contain every single run and note your voice can hit, and even on a song like Writing's On The Wall, it just sounds like too much from Matt usually.
November 19, 20168 yr Really not getting all this Emily criticism? Fair enough if you want her to do an uptempo, I'd like that too, but it was a really stunning rendition for me... (and yes Jonjo !!)
November 19, 20168 yr Saara was once again the star of the show! I possibly expected *too* much from her in that I was very slightly underwhelmed and the performance felt so short compared to everyone else's - although that was probably because I was enjoying Saara's so much and the others dragged. Unfortunately that running order slot - in comparison to Emily's slot and treatment - will 90% put her back in the bottom 2, and the VT focusing on Saara missing home won't help her either. Saara's girlfriend is living in London with her so that VT was definitely orchestrated by ITV for effect, although I'm sure she is missing the rest of her family too. Matt did give his best performance for weeks, but he is so unlikeable to me. Honey is consistently dreadful, 5AM's underwhelming vocals and constant dance breaks are irritating too. Ryan was okay again I guess, but it's also more of the same - and that same hasn't been a vote grabber for weeks except for one occasion. Emily was nearly back to her best. They were trying to recreate Creep and it didn't quite happen, but it was still on par with What Makes You Beautiful. Regarding the samey comments, Emily's brand of "samey-ness" will actually sell records - see Emeli Sandé's ballad-filled back catalogue. Honey G's brand of "samey-ness" won't. The only acts capable of sustaining a pop career are Emily and at a push 5AM. Saara seems perfectly suited to star in the biggest stage musicals in the world, or on the Eurovision stage for a one-off performance. Honey, Matt and Ryan don't have the special something to do anything significant. Looks like a Ryan and Saara bottom 2, although odds are suggesting Honey is finally in danger. It'll be interesting to see how the odds change over the next 20 hours or so. Ryan is 99% gone in any circumstance.
November 19, 20168 yr Yeah I'm definitely seeing Ryan and one of the two overs. I suppose it depends how well Honey G has been doing with the protest vote and how far she has to drop, but either way I can't see how Ryan will survive. I wanted and thought we might get the Emily and Ryan bottom 2 but pimp slot and a better performance than usual should see her through I'd imagine. And Honey G doesn't do the same thing every week? Yes but I enjoy that, and I never enjoy Emily's John lewis performances (well, this one was fine) I think maybe that was why this wasn't so bad, it's already slow (just not that slow) so it didn't feel that bad because the song is made to be a ballad. But when there are fun pop songs like How Will I Know stripped down to John Lewis adverts that's when I hate it a lot more, it strips the songs of what makes them good.
November 19, 20168 yr I don't think Emily would sustain a successful career at all actually, nothing unique or standout about her IMO. Not saying Honey G necessarily would either, but she's such a breath of fresh air to this show after the same boring singers year after year, very much like Reggie N Bollie last series were different & fun. Matt would definitely have a successful career if they took him down the Sam Smith route for example. Can't say any of the others would, 5AM might have 1 or 2 hits but that's about it.
November 19, 20168 yr That was a beautiful performance from Emily, well and truly back in the game  would love for her to do an uptempo but I can wait another week cause that was stunning. ??!?!?!?
November 19, 20168 yr Got an awful feeling Saara's going to be in the bottom two, along with Ryan. Edited November 19, 20168 yr by jase.
