Rewind all the way back to January in BJSC, whilst the world was dealing with the sad passings of icons like David Bowie, Alan Rickman & Sir Terry Wogan... BJSC came as a wondrous escape and on my troubles despite my DNQ with my own entry, the anthemic pop rock track 'Outsiders' by Against The Current' just so happened to show up in the first contest all thanks to Hendinia (Robot's country) for sending it and providing me this fantastic discovery. I'm already a female rock band lover for the most part but this just adds to the superb band discoveries of 2016 along with Keys&Cages & Ignea. I even now own Against The Current's latest album thanks to discovering them so kudos to BJSC being a wonderful place :D

One of the best dance songs I've heard all year and it made the bottom end of the top 100??? Seriously :/ This was one of those songs that really touched me from first listen, you don't get that too often with dance tracks, trance maybe but not always dance, at least in my case. 'Never Be Like You' (and 'Faded' which is still to come) are two of my personal favourite dance songs this year, it sucks not to have this in my top 20 but every song that's in there deserves to be there... it's THIS TIGHT it's crazy. Those delicate emotional lyrics, beautiful sound effect, the classical feels and the drop & chorus are all just so mesmerizing. I really can't understand what the hell the public were thinking pushing crap 'The Mack' reworkings in the charts and streaming the hell out of it and didn't get behind such beauty as this song more. Should have been a huge top 5/10 imo (even deserving of #1 too) so so good!

It's odd how the same band responsible for the shite 'Selfie' has managed to turn things around so much to become one of the biggest and most successful acts of 2016! 19 comes from Aura with 'Love Somebody', sadly it's one of those songs that probably would have done something if it was released in 2002 or something. I very much compare this to happy early noughties pop like 'Absolutely Everybody' was back in the day. Great summer pop song! 'Treat You Better' is the next Shawn Mendes singles to show up and it's here at number 18, only 'Stitches' is still to come! Final song from Twenty One-pilots and of course it's where it all started for them this year... 'Stressed Out'. Edited December 29, 20168 yr by Rob S~

It's just a tune and more and did very well for me reaching top 5. Of course she features on the huge Clean Bandit too and sounds fantastic on it, in fact she's the best part of the song I think. I'm very excited to hear what she releases in 2017 and if it's consistently as good as these singles maybe I'll get her album. I'll think about it once I've heard more of her material though! Huge dance song that was held off officially by the mammoth #1 'One Dance', so unfortunate that it stuck at #2 for 3 weeks :( however it did top my chart and many already know that 'This Girl' by Kungs was my favourite BJSC entry of the year too & it reflects as it's the highest BJSC song of someone else's in my EOY Smash Hits chart too! December 29, 20168 yr 'Never Be Like You' was brilliant, shame it wasn't given another push after it had US success as I think it could've been a hit here otherwise. 'This Girl' you know I absolutely love. :music: spending the same amount of time in your top 40 as it did at #1 in my chart
December 29, 20168 yr Author Hi Rob Mercy is really quite nice, I do prefer his uptempo tracks like Stitche and TYB but his voice is really nice and I love the ad libs on all of his tracks especially. Glad it turned into a chart hit too unlike the also really good IKWYDLS. Side to Side is one of my favourite tracks of the year for sure, both artists are just killing it at the moment and the whole package of the video and song is sooo cool and sexy. I loved the live performances we got of the track too  Enjoying this!! :D Completely agreed Josh, his ad libs are just one of my favourite things about his songs tbh, such a raw artist I think (certainly better than Bieber for me :kink: ) Rob your 35-33 are pretty great I especially love Side To Side and Mercy. I love the reggae production in the former and Mercy is a great soft ballad  YASSS the reggae production suits Ariana's voice so much on this, she really need to do more pop reggae imo. Exactly the same words I said about 'Mercy', it is really is a great soft ballad though <3 Thanks Harry! Alga, really strong entry that! Hands To Myself is Selena's best in years, great vid too. Hey fantastic electropop song. YAY at Alga loving *.* Hands To Myself is easily my fave Selena song, not that that's hard and the video *.* (being shallow stop it Rob lol) Yup Hey is indeed fantastic, such a great discovery even before it was entered :heehee: Thanks Dobby :D Hi Rob Yay at Hailee Steinfeld appearing so high here, I didn't mind Love Myself but much like you, this was the first track from her that I properly like. It's so much fun and I love the drop loads too, glad it has been such a big chart hit  September Song has grown on me a lot too, at first I thought that it was a little forgettable but it's actually really nice sounding and quite catchy too, would like for it to reach top 40 officially if possible :D Hey there once again Josh :P the drop is really good, don't get what Chez is on about really? 'Love Myself' I've given many listens but it just ain't clicking with me :( is it really about masturbation though? Yeah I can see what you mean about it being forgettable at first, it really is a lovely song though. Has to be a huge hit please, if James Arthur & Calum Scott can do big things with similar songs then why not 'September Song'? Thanks! Oohh yass at Billie being top 30, I'm glad I managed to introduce you to something you love so much (lets forget about Generik lmao). Great track. Loving how high The Greatest is too, Sia's been so so good this year. Wow at how high Hey is, you definitely should have jumped on that and sent it when you were raving about it earlier in the year! You're very lucky Billie was top 30 actually, she was middling around the mid to late 30's a month ago and I was considering dropping a bit lower by the time my EOY came but I gave it another listen after a few weeks and it sounded excellent *.* thanks for helping me there (before the rules came in lol) yes let's forget Generik, because it was GENERIC  I'm loving how big Sia has got in the last few years, good for her. No longer underrated or underappreciated. Fabulous voice and even her older songs I gave a listen to last year and sounded very nice and mellow too <3 Yea I know @ Hey  the same thing happened with Aelyn, No Wyld & Benjamin (Young & Restless) what is wrong with ma bladdy head  :( Ta Rich! Last year it featured in my countdown under it's technical peak of #3 but of course for some songs that drag over to 2016, their chart runs are cut off and only include the chart run from the first chart week of Jan where it was still inside my top 10. The song managed to become a surprise UK #1 this year knocking Bieber off his perch with the overrated 'Love Yourself', it really had too much time there imo, no shade Joseph :kink: Would you believe it that Elle King is the daughter of Rob Schneider? :o maybe that's what led her to success or was it just down to her insane talent... I think that's more likely. 'Under The Influence' is the follow up to the universally popular hit song Ex's & Oh's but to the surprise of NO ONE didn't dent the charts officially despite radio 1 support. I'd definitely say this is very much equal with E&O actually, her voice is so rich and great on this track, it managed to peak at 2 and spend 14 weeks top 40 which puts it firmly high up my top 20 at 13th! A lovely song from American Country singer Cam now and I originally heard this in September of last year, the lyrics are so sad and emotional. This however being later in the year when in fact I actually charted it way back in February and it topped my chart then before having another stint in October of course. Over the whole year it had non consecutive chart run which lasted 22 weeks, pretty amazing huh? Genevieve also claimed this was her first positive song too, so she must have been really miserable in regards to the rest of her other material haha! Edited December 31, 20168 yr by Rob S~

DISTURBED MAKING MY EOY TOP 10 OF 2016 *________________________________________________________________________*. Now I am safe to say a fan of lots of heavy rock/metal music thanks largely to my sister who's a huge metal fan lol. Disturbed have been around for years but never really had that much success in the charts, obviously because metal rarely does too well but it was this song that got everyone talking.. 'The Sound of Silence' of course would ring a few bells as it is the old Simon and Garfunkel classic. I think personally Disturbed really did produce an excellent interpretation of it and I definitely want to see this live (which I almost could have done in May) so fingers crossed I do as it'll be a masterpiece and quite the moment, the song topped my chart in April for two weeks!

Clean Bandit don't grab another eoy smash for me as 'Tears' drops out in 6th place. The song features vocals from the incredibly talented Louisa Johnson who won the X Factor last year and it's safe to say it quickly saved her career after the massive under-performance of the winning single last December. 'Tears' has those famous classical feels that Clean Bandit are known for and it sure as hell compliments with Louisa's voice on this tune!

I say that purely because songs like this never get anywhere near the charts, when I first heard Ex's & Oh's I thought it was just a good song and nothing more than that... the chorus even made me switch off as It didn't click with me initially but after a few more listens it grew and grew and then it clicked... then I saw threads on Buzzjack saying it had potential to do a 'All About That Bass' and even then I thought.... nah :P but it did do extremely well in America when it reached #10 and then came November of last year and to my surprise Radio 1 made it TOTD and then playlisted it :o then it began bubbling under in the top 100 and a performance on Graham Norton in Jan sent it flying right into the top 20 which was amazing. I was in full love mode on E&O by November in case you were wondering  I really don't know why I'm so shocked it did anything especially if some thought it sounded like it had potential on first listen but it really shocked me that it went anywhere near the top 20 in the UK... anyways Elle did amazingly well with this and managed to group up an impressive 33 weeks in my top 40 (8 were in 2015 bear in mind) and then I got her album for my birthday and not a single dud on there (maybe Americas Sweetheart I'd rank 6.5 or something). Now every station is playing it and it's safe to say a hugely popular radio hit to my surprise but a pleasant one at that. Edited December 31, 20168 yr by Rob S~
December 31, 20168 yr Hiya Rob Yay at another big Tears fan on here, Rockabye seems to have really overshadowed it but it is still the best of the two for me. The strings are what make them so unique and they were used excellently in the drop here! I adore Louisa's powerful vocals too  Into You is yet another fantastic track from Ariana but I'm not sure I would rank it as highly as a lot of others on the site, it's probably one of the weakest tracks on the album for me actually. Side to Side is actually my favourite of hers yet I think so yay at you enjoying that too :D Looking forward to the rest of the top 5 :D
