November 28, 20169 yr The Weeknd's entire album is in the singles top 100. Yes it is impressive to see 18 songs from one Album in the Top 100, wonder how many will make it at the end of the week.
November 28, 20169 yr Right, who allowed Bradley Walsh into a recording studio? What's even more worrying is that people are spending their hard earned money on it
November 28, 20169 yr Author What's more amazing is the name of his album - CHASING Dreams - geddit? :basil:
November 29, 20169 yr I just don't think the younger generation are interested in purchasing albums - see Bruno Mars and The Weeknd underperforming and the likes of Elvis Presley and Alfie Boe doing well. To an extent I agree, the growth of streaming has meant younger people are more happy to stream an entire album rather than go out and buy a £10 CD or buy it digitally. But the likes of Elvis, Alfie Boe, Andre Rieu etc, have always sold well at this time of year, older, established artists always sell a lot before Christmas. Bruno and The Weeknd may well sell big numbers in the coming months but I never expected them to have huge debuts.
November 29, 20169 yr I agree, its harder and harder to sell albums to the younger generation, for example my daughter is 15 and a huge Little Mix fan, i said i would buy her the album if she wanted it and she was no its alright i dont like cd's i will just listen to the songs i like from the album online. Keep in mind, last year she was extremely keen to get the cd of their previous album, i know this is only one person but i think it reflects many many others of her age. I myself am a huge fan of music and have bought thousands of cd;s but i notice i am buying less and less, this is for 2 reasons, their isnt as much music released that i like and also i listen to albums online before i buy them and luckily for me any albums i buy i know i will like, i dont miss the days of buying albums based on singles only to find out the rest of the album is terrible. Back to the chart, im happy to see Kylie back in the chart with the re-release, i thought the album sold much better than expected last year, in general Christmas albums dont do well with the odd exceptions such as Mihcael Buble or the one released by Rod Stewart, other artists such as Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson sold much much less than Kylie. Kylie as i have said before has nothing to prove, she as had an amazing career and her albums are still doing better in the UK than many other females of time and after, Madonna, Britney Spears been examples. I really expected Busted to be guaranteed a top 5 album and i hope it goes well for them but their new single is awful i much preferred the McBusted era. I really wanted Kate Bush to hold number 1. Mariah Carey looking like in with a chance of returning to the top 40, i hope she has the biggest Christmas hit again this year like last year. Edited November 29, 20169 yr by Feel_The_Fever
November 29, 20169 yr I just don't think the younger generation are interested in purchasing albums - see Bruno Mars and The Weeknd underperforming and the likes of Elvis Presley and Alfie Boe doing well. Little Mix had higher sales than any 'older generation' act of the year so far bar David Bowie though, and he wouldn't have sold as much as he did if it weren't for the timing of his death. Albums with older target audiences always sell well especially at this time of year, it doesn't exactly mean none of the younger acts can sell albums any more. Also, The Weeknd's last album only sold a bit over 30k and was released at a less competitive time of year, I wouldn't say 'Starboy' is underperforming tbh.

November 29, 20169 yr The Black Friday promotional price for Elvis CD of £6.99 on amazon has ended this morning, it has gone back up to £9.49 - expect Ball & Boe to overtake it again in the Best Sellers. Little Mix Deluxe edition is only position below Ball & Boe (also the regular edition has gone back up £9.99, it is still in Top 10 Best Sellers but will probably drop as well). It is a shame for Little Mix they don't have much in the way of Promotion this week as they could secure a second week with a boost from somewhere, they could still do it though.
November 29, 20169 yr As time goes on the singles chart seems to reflect more and more the taste of younger people and the album chart is being driven by sales to older generations. I'm not sure what that means for the future of the album chart. It may end up being a mostly vinyl chart with sales of a few hundred being enough to make number 1. November 29, 20169 yr Minty has confirmed Little Mix are ahead of Bush now, she must not have sold very much yesterday at all.
November 29, 20169 yr Aren't Ball & Boe likely to overtake them though? we don't know what rate everyone is selling at. Little Mix must have sold quite a bit yesterday to have overtaken Bush's 5k lead with her still selling yesterday.
November 29, 20169 yr Hopefully Little Mix hold till Friday now, Doing great though because end of last week wasn't ball and boe selling more than them daily? Edited November 29, 20169 yr by BrookeOlivia
November 29, 20169 yr we don't know what rate everyone is selling at. Little Mix must have sold quite a bit yesterday to have overtaken Bush's 5k lead with her still selling yesterday. Little Mix seem to be averaging about 8k a day at the moment, Bush probably wouldn't have sold much more than about 3k yesterday then???
November 29, 20169 yr I can see Rolling Stones being #1 next Friday, with Michael Ball being #1 the week after that and then back to Little Mix for the week before Christmas, as I'm sure they'll have done more promo since then including X Factor.
November 29, 20169 yr Bush are on course to get a hit album?? Gavin Rossdale might yet earn his Voice UK chair :o

I think x factor final performance for Little Mix is a given, Hopefully they will do performance of the second single for the first time.

November 29, 20169 yr Ouch at the Weeknd being down to 7 behind Olly Murs, who is holding up really well into Q4.
