January 16, 20178 yr Author I'M BACK. Basically I've been really busy with practice exams and birthday stuff since Thursday, but I'm back to get on with the countdown now. Definitely gonna make some progress this week. ─────────────────────────── 103. Alexa Lusader - Fantasy (Sokko Remix) LOVE MONTH - JUNE - This is a BJSC entry from Triangledonia - definitely their best of the year. Obviously the man behind the country is Spadam, and last year they had some troubles qualifying for the final, but luckily this bucked that trend and they reached top 10 with it as far as I'm aware. One thing to say about this song is that it does tend to lack definitive structure in places, and a direction, but the vocals of Alexa Lusader are so blissful and this track is so cheery and blissful - definitely making up for it. This is kind of gentle tropical house, it's not overly generic but you can still get those subtle beach and island influences which make it such a calm and enjoyable listen. 102. Frequency & SoulCircuit ft Diia - Lost LOVE MONTH - APRIL - You're probably not going to have heard of this track, but it was a BJSC entrty for Math aka. The Republic of Adonia about two years ago, and I only just got into the song when I heard it on a Mercedes advert last spring. It's really dark. The backing is so low pitched that it makes it absolutely ESSENTIAL for driving in the dark, and almost trancey. Diia's vocals are really good, that 'you lost your soul toni-iight' stays with you forever once you listened to it, and there's just so much I could go on about that makes it one of the best house tunes I've heard this year. I feel a bit guilty when denying this of a top 100 placing, but there's a chance it could chart next year too as I still love it to this day. 101. Clean Bandit ft Louisa Johnson - Tears LOVE MONTH - JUNE - OK, onto something you're all going to have heard of (it you haven't, then, do you live underr a rock or something?). This was released at the end of May as the first proper song from Louisa Johnson and the first single in over a year from Clean Bandit. At first some thought it was a tad generic, although you couldn't deny that it still screamed Clean Bandit. Very orchestal, easy to listen to, and a catchy and infectious chorus. As someone that personally HATED Louisa on The X-Factor (and absolutely DISPISED (probably spelt that wrong) her winning single), I was pessimistic about whether this'd be good or whether I'd grow to loathe it, but I loved it. Such a huge tune, and although it didn't get any higher than #8 in my personal chart, I'm still confident enough to gift it a #101 placing, so so close to the top 100. Soz, Clean Bandit, maybe next year.
January 16, 20178 yr Author THE TOP 100. What's in the top 100, you may cry? FIVE Bastille songs THREE twenty one pilots songs THREE The Chainsmokers songs TWO Sean Paul songs TWO The Weeknd songs TWENTY SIX BJSC entries COMING SOON.

January 19, 20178 yr Author 100. The Chainsmokers ft Daya - Don't Let Me Down LOVE MONTH - APRIL - Another Chainsmokers song here. Daya is a really great artist, so after the success of Roses and the me-falling-in-love with Waterbed, I was very very excited for this one and it delivered. I was keen on it far before it became a hit, though, so it was admittedly slightly underwhelming to see it get big when it was kind of bored of it. At a stage I was so so invested in this track, the drop as always with the Chainsmokers delivered and the hooks were as always totally infectious and catchy. Definitely the hit that made the Chainsmokers as big of a chart force as they are today - looking like debuting top 10 with Paris, soon to be top 3! 98. Rihanna - Kiss It Better LOVE MONTH - MARCH - Obviously, coming from Rihanna's recent album ANTi - of which on the whole was pretty decent, I had some relatively high hopes for this song. It's definitely one of my favourites from the album, sexy, smooth, and definitely part of a great change Rihanna has made to her music. I really like this new R&B sound she's employing to her tracks, her voice absolutely WORKS it and it was a shame that this was overshadowed by Needed Me, in what was a case of there being two songs pushed at the same time so they both get lost in each others hype and both flop. This had great support from Radio 1 and if it wasn't for the far inferior Needed Me stealing its flame, it could have been a top 10. 97. The Free - Freedom Island LOVE MONTH - JULY - This was an entry for St. Burbia in BJSC, and for some moronic reason it DNQ'd. I've got no idea why, it's one of the best entries of the year and the vocals are just so so stunning. I recently found out that the beat of the song was from a beat channel and bought by The Free which was a tad disappoointing as I thought they'd produced the track themselves, but never mind. This is what tropical music SHOULD always be like - a really lovely island beat and some nice accented vocals that just automatically chill you out. What I liked from the start of getting into this was the fact it's not overproduced, it's just nice and stripped back, makes for really easy listening! 99. Kideko & George Kwali ft Nadia Rose & Sweetie Irie - Crank It (Woah!) LOVE MONTH - AUGUST - Radio 1 were absolutely IN LOVE with this track all throughout the autumn. I think it was everywhere for a good few months - its chart position by no means reflects the actual success of the song because it got great airplay and was featured on numerous adverts and shows. I was happy to see this become a hit, very different to what we usually see get bit but the Afrobeat vibes throughout made it a great listen. Songs like this are why I'm really into music that's big these days, there's often some quirky dance tracks with different styled drops and beats (like I love the pitched vocals and future bass trends which make for some super unique drops). January 21, 20178 yr Lost is incredible  I actually discovered thru that car advert as it was before my BJSC days but it would have been easily my fave of that contest that's for sure. Tears is obviously amazing, nothing more to add there :D Kiss It Better deserved so much more, a rarer side of her music that doesn't get seen often enough.
January 21, 20178 yr YOU GOT DI BOOM-B-BOOM-B-BOOM WOAH :music: :music: :music: (i like crank it btw)
January 21, 20178 yr Crank It was brilliant, I'm just pleased it went top 40 really. Hopefully MoS can get some big hits this year now that they're more adjusted to the OA/OS format (poor 'Freak Like Me' got screwed over by them not knowing how to do an OA/OS release and it never even got a video in the end :|)

I really hope that we see more songs like Lost in this years BJSC - it's become a bit too generic and pop hunting right now for my liking and we could do with some d&b house

January 23, 20178 yr Author 96. Mumford And Sons & Baaba Maal - There Will Be Time LOVE MONTH - JUNE - A really gentle and inoffensive song. I have been a fan of Mumford And Sons for a while, and their recent era, partly teaming up with the featured Baaba Maal was no buck to their trend of making strong, poignant music. They've took subtle tribal and African influences in this track (mostly at the hands of Baaba, but still they've done some so themselves) and mixed it to their normal, graceful sound. The lyrics to this are so so emotional and the song on the whole is just a scintilating listen. As someone that's mostly a fan of dance tracks, it's kind of strange for me to be such a fan of this - but in what i feel is partly influenced by Radio 1 HAMMERING this track, I love it. 95. Drake ft Wizkid & Kyla - One Dance LOVE MONTH - APRIL - 15 weeks at number one. What? I'll admit that even though I'm charting it very high, I did get so so bored of this tune after a while, which is a shame, as it's dramatically decreased the future longevity of me liking this as similar to nearly everyone on Buzzjack, perhaps with the exception of Seven and Ethan, I was really fed up of this by the time it had charted its 15th long week at the summit of the Official Charts. It's still in the top 40 now, which I don't have a problem with, but really? Although this is very good (that's why it's in my end of year top 100, duh) there are CERTAINLY more deserving songs of nearly four straight months at the top of the charts. God knows what it was like to live through Wet Wet Wet and Bryan Adams spending similar amounts of time at #1 with far inferior songs. 94. MENDOZA - Love Druggie (Jade Blue Remix) LOVE MONTH - MARCH - Here's another BJSC entry. This was entered into my first ever contest, BJSC 83. The contest on the whole was so good - the songs in the final were of such a good quality, there's a few more from 83 to come by the way - and this deservedly came second. The winner of the contest was a monstrosity about balloons, or something, and may I say that this was ROBBED. A house tune under the UKF label, this is lively, fun, and has really quirky vocals. I really wish I'd charted this higher, it's definitely one of the best entries of the year - coming from Cadelicia, who are without a doubt one of the most consistent countries.
January 23, 20178 yr One Dance    I've just listened to it as I've been singing it all day. I think it still sounds brilliant. Very deserving of its domination :D
