January 1, 20178 yr Hi Mdh Such a good section there, love three of those  I feel like Taste the Feeling could have been such a big hit, that line alone is just so catchy from when you hear it all the time in the ads. I was well shocked when I found it was Avicii as well, didn't expect him to be doing that track :o Who knew that when 99 Souls advertised the track on Buzzjack that it would be a massive chart hit in a few months. The track is a perfect blend of two urban classics and it all works so well, love it  BYS is also a great track, already my favourite from Jonas Blue now. It is a bit of a TIWYCF rip off but I think that's why I like it so much, it's so catchy and the vocals are excellent too
January 1, 20178 yr By Your Side is really hitting me at the moment, could outpeak his other two in my personal chart~ 99 Souls  that was in my EOY last year, proper banger!
January 1, 20178 yr Author Hey mdh, Happy New Year! :D By Your Side and The Girl Is Mine are both pretty good, and I love Taste the Feeling, Avicii's best in ages and Conrad never fails to deliver  I really hope he gets a long-overdue breakthrough as a solo artist soon, Hold Me Up could've at least done what September Song is doing right now if Radio 1 didn't snub it :drama: Hey Joseph, Happy New Year to you too :D It's a real shame he can't seem to get that break he deserves, hopefully 2017 will change that though :D thanks for the comments as usual ^_^

Yep, I was quite surprised to see it not catch on, I mean nearly every song used in an advert makes some iTunes top 100 impact at some point but I don't even think this troubled it once! It barely even went top 1500 on release :(
January 1, 20178 yr Author By Your Side is really hitting me at the moment, could outpeak his other two in my personal chart~ 99 Souls  that was in my EOY last year, proper banger! I'm glad, although Fast Car will always be my preference.
January 1, 20178 yr Author Yes at 99 Souls and By Your Side are really good and I think that Avicii song is actually good too I thought it would get more of a push tbh :o I was also shocked to see Radio 1 not even give it a go!
January 1, 20178 yr Author 133. BANNERS - Shine A Light LOVE MONTH - JUNE - This was at the point where I was on form, I'd found my tactic to do well in Buzzjack contests - take generic upbeat indie tracks and enter them, and subsequently have a surefire hit on my hands :magic: This came 8th in Unknown Pleasures and I'm glad it did, BANNERS are a nice indie band, surprised Radio 1 haven't gave them a chance as of yet. 132. Dave ft Drake - Wanna Know LOVE MONTH - OCTOBER - A track that is so immensely catchy, Wanna Know was a streaming hit from YouTube and up and coming rap star Dave and his friend... Drake. God knows how he got Drake to do the track on that back of a 15 week #1 single :,) Anyway, this is immensely catchy and there's something about it that just got me every time. I scrobbled it something stupid like ten times a day at one point. 131. Pitbull - FREE:K LOVE MONTH - JANUARY - What can I say :,) This is another completely trash but definitely fun bop from Pitbull, who as always, talks fondly about women and shows some apparently uncommon appreciation for women that wear uniform. Pitbull, the feminist hero we all didn't know we needed!!!1 Nah, but really, this is a bit of a jam :music: 130. Maroon 5 ft Kendrick Lamar - Don't Wanna Know LOVE MONTH - NOW - After a two year hiatus, as an established band famous for fun, alternative and pop tunes, what better way to come back into the spotlight than by releasing one of the most generic tropical house songs of the year featuring a rapper that's there to add some sales to the song? Ikr. This is bloody brilliant though, and I'm a VERY strong comeback! Good job I'm actually a fan of tropical bandwagonning, though, as I know some Buzzjackers are a bit miffed at this. :heehee: 129. Kallay-Saunders Band - Faded LOVE MONTH - APRIL - Here is another BJSC entry of mine to appear in the countdown, in the form of one of my favourite acts of all time - Kallay-Saunders Band. They first appeared on Eurovision in 2014 with the irresistable Running and ever since I've been totally obsessed with them. Kallay and the lads just know how to make a pop song good, and I wish they got more recognition for it :( At least they're big in Hungary!1 Edited January 1, 20178 yr by mdh
January 2, 20178 yr The Girl Is Mine is a great tune :music: I can't believe it was a year ago since it was becoming massive. :o Wanna Know is also brilliant. The solo version was ok but it's the Drake remix that really brought it to life.
January 2, 20178 yr Author 128. Bob Sinclar - Someone Who Needs Me LOVE MONTH - JUNE - So this is the song :phew: THE song. The song that did what, you may ask? Well, it's the song that singlehandedly helped me win my first Buzzjack award - yep, you guessed it, that veto thing. To this day I have no idea what's so funny about it but oh well lmao, in my defence I DIDN'T see the post prior to posting, although I guess I should have known it was inevitable I'd be vetoed. Lmao. 127. Alessia Cara - Wild Things LOVE MONTH - JULY - Ooh I love this! Alessia is such a queen to be honest, I've been really getting into her and as I speak now she holds the #1 spot in my personal chart! This was a really lovely track, did well on Spotify but failed to get any sort of iTunes momentum although it was given decent rotation at the time by Radio 1. :( Oh well, at least Alessia has three potential hits ready to go now! Gonna be a big year for her. 126. Gorgon City ft Vaults - All Four Walls LOVE MONTH - APRIL - Quite the sleeper hit, this has been! I've been hearing it here and there everywhere all year, definitely a surprise considering it didn't do anything in the charts. This is a total jam and I'm still loving it to this day, just a tad unfortunate that Vaults' John Lewis song was crap (and rightfully a flop at that! Sooo boring, nowhere near as good as funky dance.) 125. MiC LOWRY - Oh Lord LOVE MONTH - NOVEMBER - This is one of the main victims of recently Spotify Payola - been given massive playlist rotation simple because their label have a bit of dough. This is still a massive tune with a totally radical club house bass drop, that bloody bass sounds sooo good  (why tf did I call it radical). These guys toured with Justin Bieber and they deserve far more attention than Spotify play harvesting can ever get them :heehee:
January 3, 20178 yr Wild things  probably my favourite Alessia Cara single to date :D Great to see All Four Walls here as well!
January 3, 20178 yr Wild Things is great! Probably my favourite of her singles so far, wish it was more of a hit :(
January 4, 20178 yr By Your Side is brilliant, easily his best song to date & it'll be tough for him to top it. Home was a really nice entry, can't believe it finished as low as it did! Someone Who Needs Me the BJSC smash that never was  that deserved to be a hit.
January 4, 20178 yr mdh! :hi: Wild Things is so under-rated! For me, it's her catchiest and easiest on the ears track but it never seems to get the love when she gets mentioned. I like the chilled vibe of Here and the lyrics to Scars to Your Beautiful but she's yet to beat this for me. It's a shame the chart landscape has changed so much in recent years because Gorgon City really deserve the hits still. If this was a released a couple of years back, I feel like it'd would have been just as big as RFYL and HFY. A shame that Vaults has struggled to get any hits too, even after the John Lewis advert, such a gorgeous voice

I am a massive fan of her at the moment, she's probably my favourite female soloist - everything she releases is immense  Yeah, I suppose All Four Walls would have done a lot better hat it been given more playlist support, but we can't complain with the fact it's been quite the sleeper hit.
January 4, 20178 yr Author The Girl Is Mine is a great tune :music: I can't believe it was a year ago since it was becoming massive. :o Wanna Know is also brilliant. The solo version was ok but it's the Drake remix that really brought it to life. Yeah, even weirder to think it was nearly two years since 99 Souls was promoting the track on BJ :o
January 4, 20178 yr All Four Walls is such a tune, so disappointing that even with big R1 support it couldn't become a chart hit. Would've been nice if R1 got on board with Oh Lord, that could've done something. That Dave song was quite good too.
January 4, 20178 yr Author 124. Starley - Call On Me (Ryan Riback Remix) LOVE MONTH - DECEMBER - This is very special indeed. Starley is an artist I'd never heard of previous to this release, neither had I heard of Ryan Riback, but these two unknown names have combined to make what seems like a massive hit - and oh my god is it good  The drop is absolutely immense, the production is hella smooth and the chorus is just TOO catchy; this is going to be a huge top 5 :D 123. Lemaitre ft Jennie A - Closer LOVE MONTH - MAY - If you DO know this track, it's probably from the Google advert (the new Pixel phone), and I really love this. Some nice trumpet/trombone or something really makes a cool drop in this song, plus Jennie A's vocals are very nice. It was unfortunate this didn't become a hit, I was hoping it'd do a Sunshine and blow up because of an ad, but sadly not in this case :( 122. James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go LOVE MONTH - SEPTEMBER - This is brilliant - when I first heard it I was under the impression it'd be a flop and James Arthur would just mingle into the background once again, although luckily I was wrong! This is such a chilled out number, some lovely, albeit simplisctic lyrics and a soaring chorus. Just simple and heartfelt enough to get his name back on the map, he really deserves it  ──────────────────────── COUNTDOWN SO FAR~ 122 James Arthur - Say You Won't Let Go 123 Lemaitre ft Jennie A - Closer 124 Starley - Call On Me (Ryan Riback Remix) 125 MiC LOWRY - Oh Lord 126 Gorgon City ft Vaults - All Four Walls 127 Alessia Cara - Wild Things 128 Bob Sinclar - Someone Who Needs Me 129 Kallay-Saunders Band - Faded 130 Maroon 5 ft Kendrick Lamar - Don't Wanna Know 131 Pitbull - FREE:K 132 Dave ft Drake - Wanna Know 133 BANNERS - Shine A Light 134 Topic ft Nico Santos - Home 135 Avicii & Conrad Sewell - Taste The Feeling 136 Jonas Blue ft RAYE - By Your Side 137 99 Souls ft Destinys Child & Brandy - The Girl Is Mine 138 Carly Rae Jepsen - Store 139 Francis & The Lights ft Kanye West & Bon Iver - Friends 140 Tiesto & Oliver Heldens ft Natalie La Rose - The Right Song 141 Mark Forster - Wir Sind Grob 142 Jonas Blue ft JP Cooper - Perfect Strangers 143 Alle Farben ft YOUTNOUS - Please Tell Rosie 144 Drake - Fake Love 145 Suns - Catalyse 146 Era Istrefi - Bonbon 147 The 1975 - The Sound 148 Giggs ft Donae'o - Lock Doh 149 Cobi - Don't You Cry For Me 150 Britney Spears ft G-Eazy - Make Me (Ooh) 151 Lady Gaga - Perfect Illusion 152 NEIKED ft Dyo - Sexual 153 Coldplay ft Beyoncé - Hymn For The Weekend 154 The Chainsmokers ft GGFO - Let You Go 155 Fitz & The Tantrums - HandClap 156 AURORA - I Went Too Far (MK Remix) 157 Fais ft Afrojack - Hey 158 The Griswolds - If You Wanna Stay 159 Glasperlenspiel - Geiles Leben 160 Anne-Marie - Do It Right 161 TIEKS ft Dan Harkna - Sunshine 162 Hey Violet - Fuqboi 163 C4 - See Me There
January 5, 20178 yr Call On Me is fantastic! So glad it's shaping up to be a huge hit, maybe it's a future #1 contender when Ed slows down? :o
January 6, 20178 yr Author Call On Me is fantastic! So glad it's shaping up to be a huge hit, maybe it's a future #1 contender when Ed slows down? :o I really hope so, looking good for being top 3 eventually right now!

Would've been nice if R1 got on board with Oh Lord, that could've done something. That Dave song was quite good too. Yeah, I think most of us were under the impression Oh Lord would be a hit so it was unfortunate to see it fail to even break into the iTunes top 100. I was expecting Capital to give it massive rotation as well, such a shame to see that never materialising either!
