As Coldplay release their five-track Live From Spotify London collection, the streaming giant has revealed the band passed 5 billion streams on the service.

The accomplishment, recorded earlier this week, makes them officially the biggest band in the world on all-time streams. Adventure Of A Lifetime, the lead single from the band's seventh studio album A Head Full Of Dreams, leads the way with more than 322 million plays to date, ahead of Hymn For The Weekend on 289,860,180. More than a billion of the streams came from their latest LP.

According to Official Charts Company data, the album has sold 951,540 copies in the UK - comprising 701,932 physical and 183,159 permanent downloads, with 66,449 via streams.

Coldplay are 12th in the world when it comes to Spotfiy monthly listeners, clocking up 25,495,719. Live From Spotify London is an exclusive, five-track collection of unique, stripped-back live recordings, performed in front of a small audience at Spotify’s London HQ (pictured) last month.

Should reach 1 million Sales soon (Maybe not this year though), "Ghost Stories" will be seen as a bit of a blip ie their only Studio Album not to reach 1 million Sales.
TBH I haven't bought a Coldplay album since Viva La Vida as I went off them a bit.

Will definitely be this year - only needs 24k now and it sold that last week.

Yes agreed, curiously the Article from Music Week from today reported last week's cumulative total.

As they are now at 976,206 they will do easily.

Just like American Life was for Madonna

I know they've had two very successful singles and have generally been more present this era, but it shows just how the Christmas market can do wonders for an album's sales. Selling 1m in just over a year with this album compared to about 650k to their previous, now two and a half years old, album.

I was wondering recently how well albums released in the Christmas market would have done if released over the summer. Take someone like Little Mix, the biggest girl group around right now who clearly have a strong fanbase too - how long would it have taken them to shift the amount of copies they have done in just this past month alone? I suppose someone like The Weeknd, who has had much stronger streams and downloads than he has physicals, would have pretty much shifted similar quantities at any time of the year.
