December 22, 20168 yr Author Share many of the albums you've posted in my own list :o Good to see Tinashe, Jojo (I didn't even know her before this album oops), Gaga, Ariana, Sia, Rihanna, Little Mix and All Saints in particular <3 Bring on the singles ~~ !!!!!!!!! Really love F**k Apologies, Kill Em With Kindness, Hurts and One Woman Man from your first section Liam  none of them were as big as they deserved to be :drama: I kind of thought F**k Apologies would do it for Jojo but alas no :(
December 23, 20168 yr Hi Liam, One Woman Man is such a great pop song one of my All Saints faves  No Lie is a grower for sure! Hurts is such an anthem so glad she came back this year  Kill Em With Kindess was such a great singles chocie for Selena imo  F*** Apologies was good near amazing but made me take notice of her again. December 24, 20168 yr Author 81 Babymetal - Karate 82 Olly Murs - You Don’t Know Love 83 Olivia - I'm Not Your Lady 84 TAL - Are We Awake 85 Neiked - Sexual 86 Zara Larsson - I Would Like 87 Alicia Keys - In Common 88 LP - Lost On You 89 Drake - One Dance 90 Alessia Cara - Scars To Your Beautiful Scars To Your Beautiful is a pop money shot if ever I saw one! It could easily have been produced by Ryan Tedder, tackling the beauty myth just as effectively as Beyonce's Pretty Hurts. One Dance has been inescapable this year, but it's easy to see how it was one of the year's biggest hits. It's effortlessly cool and catchy, and never gets old. Lose On You was a massive grower, I remember stating my hate for it in the initial BJSC listen through in the contest it was in! I ended up pointing it, and it's now here. LP's voice is so captivating, she has a real gift of packing emotion into every note. In Common is very much like the aforementioned One Dance, except without the man of the moment tacked on it wasn't a hit </3 This is a perfect step out of Alicia's comfort zone without losing her usual appeal and magic. I Would Like was initially a bi disappointing, given the standard set by Lush Life, Ain't My Fault and the 1 singles, but it is such an effortlessly 90s flavoured bop I couldn't sleep on it for long! As with Lost On You, Sexual wasn't a firm favourite in BJSC immediately! It is pretty much a textbook example of how to get a Spotify hit, but the production and smooth vocals are too undeniable and eventually wore me down! Are We Awake is the first of my BJSC entries to appear in this list! A French language tropical pop bop, this track's huge breakdown soared all the way to the top 5 in the penultimate BJSC of the year. I'm Not Your Lady is another BJSC song, lots in this section! A sassy man shunning anthem for our times *.* Olivia's vocals are so fierce, they just make the song explode and the melody is so catchy it's impossible not to love this. You Don't Know Love was a bit of a triumphant return for daddy Olly :kink: Kiss Me was nice enough but You Don't Know Love really nailed the darkish pop sound that has been utilised by many big popstars recently, I wish it had been bigger but a silver selling top 20 is decent. Karate is probably one of the more out there songs on this list, being a J-Pop and metal fusion, but I just can't get enough of the cutesy aesthetic juxtaposed with striking metal influences.
December 24, 20168 yr I Would Like is great, so glad it's being a big hit for her, although I wish Ain't My Fault was a top 10 hit as well :drama:
December 25, 20168 yr I like Scars To Your Beautiful :D Kill Em With Kindness is very boring... :( and I like Selena but that songs...
December 25, 20168 yr Hiya Liam, merry Christmas! Didn't realise you liked One Dance that much, everyone on here just seems to hate it but I agree with you that is very cool and catchy, I did begin to get a little bored of it after all the overplay but it's growing on me again. I'm a fan of I Would Like but I agree it is a little bit disappointing after two amazing solo singles that were much better. I'm glad that it's turning into such a huge hit in the charts though, she deserves all the success she's getting  :D
December 25, 20168 yr Hi Liam Yay for some Papercuts appreciation, love the beat in that one & the chorus in particular. I'm Not Your Lady one of my fave pop songs I have heard this year actually, similar for Lost On You - hopefully that can crack the UK Charts one day. I Would Like is brilliant & glad it's already a huge smash. Lastly good to see One Dance appear in another top 100 :cheer:
December 25, 20168 yr Oh fantastic to see I'm Not Your Lady in here Liam! Are We Awake wasn't far out of my chart, definitely my favourite of your entries this year and the parent album was pretty good too!
December 26, 20168 yr Author Thanks all! I Would Like is great, so glad it's being a big hit for her, although I wish Ain't My Fault was a top 10 hit as well :drama: Yeah I prefer Aint' My Fault so it's a shame this will be much bigger but any success for her is great! I like Scars To Your Beautiful :D Kill Em With Kindness is very boring... :( and I like Selena but that songs... I think it was by many other artists I'd have less love for it, Selena is always just a plus :P Hiya Liam, merry Christmas! I'm glad that it's turning into such a huge hit in the charts though, she deserves all the success she's getting  :D I don't bother with radio etc. so I didn't have the same overplay as many people although I did tire a bit always hearing it out a few months ago! Hi Liam Yay for some Papercuts appreciation, love the beat in that one & the chorus in particular. I'm Not Your Lady one of my fave pop songs I have heard this year actually, similar for Lost On You - hopefully that can crack the UK Charts one day. I Would Like is brilliant & glad it's already a huge smash. Lastly good to see One Dance appear in another top 100 :cheer: The chorus is brilliant, Vera Blue is such a talent <3 Lost On You could easily do it, but I'm not sure it actually will, it will most probably be one of those pan European hits that just totally misses the UK :( Oh fantastic to see I'm Not Your Lady in here Liam! Are We Awake wasn't far out of my chart, definitely my favourite of your entries this year and the parent album was pretty good too! It's such a jam, brilliant BJSC discovery <3
December 26, 20168 yr Author 71 Girli - So You Think You Can f*** With Me Do Ya? 72 Andie Case - Coming Around 73 KDA ft. Tinashe - Just Say 74 Jamala - 1944 75 Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman 76 M.O - Who Do You Think Of? 77 Anne-Marie - Do It Right 78 That Poppy - Money 79 Martin Solveig ft. Tkay Maidza - Do It Right 80 Shawn Mendes ft. Camilla Cabello - I Know What You Did Last Summer I Know What Did Last Summer was a second absolute tune in a row for Shawn, with the help of Camilla Cabello, recent Fifth Harmony dropout. The duet format works really well here, and Camilla's voice is a perfect compliment. The Ain't No Sunshine sample is such a great addition too! Do It Right is one of the best dance tunes of the year, Tkay Maidza has to break out soon surely?! It's a shame this bouncy track didn't do better, it had that summery vibe without being copycat or tired tropical house. Money is the biggest BJSC pop songs of the year! That chorus is just undeniable, it blows up right in your face and if you even vaguely know the words or melody you'll be hard pressed not to sing along. Anne-Marie has had a huge year and that all started with Do It Right's pop perfection - there's something about that title this year! Boy was a decent Lily Allen-esque bop but Do It Right has a real unique sparkle to it so it feels like only Anne-Marie could sing it. Who Do You Think Of? is one of the things that the abundance of tropical house actually got right! When pop uses tropical house correctly, it's always a moment and this is no exception. It was so nice to see them get a hit after so many near misses! Dangerous Woman was the first real taste of the excellent eponymous album from Ari, after Focus was scrapped from it! This sensual slow jam juxtaposes subtle choruses and an impactful chorus that showcases all of Ari's best sides effortlessly. 1944 was a bit of an upset at Eurovision, but I wish I bet on it months prior as I was going to!! While Dami was robbed (more on that later), that performance on the night was such a moment. The song is so different for Eurovision, emotional and impactful with the meaning behind it. Chanting along with Jamala is always fun af *.* Just Say is another dance banger for this section! Tinashe on dance tracks is definitely something I'd love to see more of, whilst this isn't that commercial the pulsing beats perfectly compliment Tinashe's eternally sexy and smooth vocals. Coming Around very nearly made the honour of being one of my BJSC entries, I regret not doing it tbh. Andie made her name with Youtube covers, but this powerful original shows how much potential she has. With emotional undertones, an incredible build up and a powerful chorus that could blow up any of your faves, Andie is not messing about. So You Can Think You Can f*** With Me Do Ya is definitely one of the more memorable and unique BJSC entries of the year! Girli's unique lyrical prowess and flow make you want to perfect your rapping skills so you can go along with every word.
December 26, 20168 yr Author 61 Peking Duk ft. Elliphant - Stranger 62 Beyonce - Sorry 63 Carrie Underwood - Dirty Laundry 64 All Saints - One Strike 65 Tinie Tempah ft. Zara Larsson - Girls Like 66 Andra Day - Rise Up 67 Aura - Love Somebody 68 Zayn - Pillowtalk 69 Frenship ft. Emily Warren - Capsize 70 Rihanna - Kiss It Better Kiss It Better is easily a highlight of Anti, that 80s power *.* I have no idea how it wasn't bigger, it has the sensual sexienss and the power </3 It will get revenge at the Grammys tbh The second Unovia BJSC entry to appear, Capsize has made small waves commercially too hitting top 50 on Spotify, making the top 20 in Australia and top 100 in the US! This lush tropical flavoured anthem is made irrestible by Emily Warren's lovely vocals. Pillowtalk is one of the surprises of the year for me - who'd have thoguht I'd love a 1D solo single this much? :o The alternative R&B flavours make for a subtle song which suits Zayn's admittedly limited vocal abilites, although that doesn't stop him belting out a huge singalong chorus *.* Love Somebody was a brilliant comeback for Aura, who we'd heard very little about for a good 3 or 4 years! This song is bang on trend and could easily be a hit for one of the big pop girls, with it's tropical flavours and pitched vocals, so it's a shame it hasn't caught on like her European smashes Geronimo and I Will Love You Monday. Rise Up was pimped by X Factor this year, but sadly it didn't translate to commercial success like when they catapaulted Skyscraper by Demi Lovato into the top 10 </3 It's such a raw and beautiful song, it would be a perfect winner's single and I thought that fate was its destiny... It's a good thing in the end though because imagine Matt Terry butchering it? *shudders* Girls Like was rightfully a huge hit for the one of the biggest UK rappers and the new pop princess! This banger played to both artist's strengths, with a fierce and feisty from Zara and a furiously fast flow from Tinie, all played out over a club ready beat. One Strike was a stunning comeback for All Saints, who'd been absent for 10 years! As I said about the album, this underrated gem was the perfect way to bring the All Saints vibe and their classic harmonies into 2016 without butchering what they are about fundamentally. Dirty Laundry is the latest single from Carrie's brilliant 2015 single. Although it's been her lowest peaking Hot 100 single, scraping top 70, this anthem of a woman scorned is classic Carrie as she furiously confronts a cheating partner. That chorus has so much power it would blow away anyone confronted with it! Sorry is the first entry for Beyonce, who released a year defining album in Lemonade. It has to be one of the defining and most controversial songs, given the fact it deals with Jay-Z's infidelity. In less than 4 minutes of an electro-R&B banger, the other woman is diminished to a "Becky with the good hair" meme in a way that really could only be done by Beyonce. Stranger is an incredible dance song, totally made by the wondrous vocals of Elliphant. I so wish this had taken off commercially, the production is great and Elliphant's hopeful tone makes the song carry so much feeling to it <3
December 26, 20168 yr KDA AND TINASHA (that u introduced me to!!!), dangerous woman, martin / tkay are all songs of the year for me *.* love peking duk, 1944, sorry, in common, i'm not your lady and SYTYCFWMDY (which is more of a defining MOMENT of friendship than a song for me!)
