Little Mix hold on to #1, fending off high new entries from Louis Tomlinson and Matt Terry. A bop like 'Touch' couldn't spend just a week at the top! *.*

 

 

I never would have imagined I'd be into a song by Louis Tomlinson to this extent, but that has proven to be the case! 'Just Hold On', a collaboration with Steve Aoki, sails into my chart at #2. In doing this he out-peaks the vast majority of his singles with One Direction - thirteen of their singles peaked lower than Top 2. 'Just Hold On' achieves the same peak position as 'Story of My Life' and 'Steal My Girl'. The currently-on-hiatus boy band managed three #1s - 'One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)', 'Drag Me Down' & 'Perfect'. Could 'Just Hold On' go on to be a surprise #1? Louis equals the highest position Zayn has managed in his solo career so far - Pillowtalk peaked at #2 earlier this year. Zayn also has an entry this week, at #9 with 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever', a collaboration with Taylor Swift.

 

 

The latest X Factor winner Matt Terry enters a position lower than Louis at #3, with the Ed Sheeran penned Xmas song 'When Christmas Comes Around'.

 

X Factor winners singles tend to achieve Top 5 peaks in my chart, with Matt duly becoming the 11th out of 13 winners to manage this. Only Joe McElderry & Steve Brookstein peaked lower, with Joe just missing out at #6, while Steve attained a dire #39 peak (in my very first chart!). Matt will inevitably have a short chart life with his song for the obvious reason that it's a Christmas song - probably only three weeks - although it does of course stand a chance of re-entering in future Christmas periods! As is shown above, it's not been unusual for winners singles to have fleeting stays in my chart. Despite peaking at #1, Louisa could only stick around for 4 weeks in total, with a rather dismal chart run of 09-01-08-26-out - giving her the dubious honour of having the least successful #1 in my chart history, with just 180 points scored. Sam Bailey is the second least successful #1, with 194 points and a dubious honour of her own - the biggest fall from #1. Her chart run: 03-01-16-26-37-xx. It's safe to say that both of these are very much "non-#1s"! This is certainly not the case for Leona's 'A Moment Like This, which is the most successful winners song: 4 weeks at #1, 19 weeks in the Top 40 & platinum certified.

 

All of the female winners so far scored #1s with their first singles, but the only male to do that to date is Shayne Ward. Could Matt Terry make it two, next week? He's already done very well by entering at #3 - the highest first week position from a male winner, outdoing Matt Cardle's entry position of #4. Matt Terry has also achieved the highest peak for a male winner since Leon Jackson's #2 hit 'When You Believe'.

I actually really love Louis's debut haha but I also love I Feel It Coming and I went for that. I would pick both if I could :lol:
