 11 Robbie Williams - Love My Life

This has been hanging around the top end of the charts for about 3 weeks now, hope it can actually become a proper hit and surpass its #33 peak.

It should do in the coming weeks when the streaming ratio is increased

I'm fairly sure Joel Adams' Please Don't Go wasn't ever sent out to radio but still managed to peak at ~#23 on Spotify and hang around for eternity - it's all about the playlists. Airplay can have an effect but if he's not on the main playlists such as Hot Hits UK, there's very little chance of anything taking off on Spotify.

Yes that's right too!

His New Years Eve performance on BBC One should keep this selling for a while longer, though it's showing no signs of dying down just yet.

Not necessarily, the streaming ratio change could get it back in the top 40 but I can't see it outpeaking #33 unless the New Years Eve performance sends it back into the iTunes top 5 for a few days.

Pretty frustrating - peaked at No1 on my PC but nobody seems to want to stream it, just buy it. Does anyone have its chart run on the sales chart?

Robbie's fans need to stream his music. If they streamed his music the way Drake's fans and Bieber's fans stream their music, Robbie could have decent longevity

Shocking that the sales positions of 9 and 10 were not even enough to get him into the Top 50 officially. Even with the stream 'sales' ration changing this will become more common as more and more people stream and use their Christmas gift cards for Apple and Spotify subscriptions.

Ah thanks for this, done decently on the sales chart but the later few weeks saw increased sales due to heavy promo and being on the big shows, other than that a steady rise and fall.

People just need to accept downloads are now what cd singles were in 2007 onwards, something that is dying out and will have less and less impact on the charts.

In a couple of years time this thread wont even be opened.

I was wondering if the spotify and this thread would be combined at some stage (we tried it early this year but it died out a bit)!
I'm expecting Spotify to roll out an iTunes like chart system in the coming months, where it updates every few minutes. I'm also expecting the process of songs gaining popularity to speed up a fair bit ─ it wouldn't surprise me if we soon have a weekly Spotify thread as well as a weekly iTunes thread! :D

 78. Olly Murs - Years & Years

 136. Sage The Gemini - Now And Later

I think these songs will do big things in 2017 with the exception of Olly maybe.

The thing with Alessia is that she has Seventeen (the supposed new single), Scars To Your Beautiful (the song getting popular on iTunes), AND How Far I'll Go (getting popular on Spotify) - it could end up as a Craig David-esque mess unfortunately :(

Yes to Alessia - love the song and pleased to see its looking like becoming a hit.

Bizzare that Olly is doing well on streaming yet absolutely nothing on sales (Think it peaked at #123 on iTunes).

Currently no plans to combine the threads, things work fine as they are I'd say! iTunes isn't totally redundant to the charts yet :kink:

other than Anne-Marie's new single, is anything else coming out tonight?

That's been moved to 17th March
