I Will Love Again:

One of my instant favourites, for me the chorus goes off completely. It sounds a little Eurovision-y but in a good way. I'd always hoped this was going to be a single, but really aside from Dancing With A Broken Heart they got the singles spot on so I can't really complain.

Dear Santa (Bonus):

This feels so out of place on the album. It's not a bad song, I just don't think it fits with the album. Oh well, on the plus side it's better than 99% of Light Up the World.

Overall it's a great comeback album even but I can't tell with the songs I don't like are bad (Experienced) or they just haven't had the 20+ years to grow on me.
Neon Blue:

When I first heard the album I wasn't that keen on this, I just didn't get all the fuss. Over the past year or so though it's grown considerably on me. There's just something so joyous about it.

Was almost instant for me, really feel good song that I never tire of so I'm glad its grown on you. I was the same with story of a heart initially I didnt get all the fuss but eventually I did.

It really is great, I think once I actually listened to it properly it clicked. Oh and when I got over my very short live resentment of it being a single over I Will Love Again. Now I think Neon Blue was a perfect choice as single.

2. Scared of the Dark

This really was everything I needed from a Steps comeback. They delivered such a bop and it paid off I think. Probably still in my Top 5 singles by them and that’s even with the BOPS they provided on What The Future Holds! I honestly cannot praise it enough. (Except for the mixing error in Faye’s bridge but that’s not THEIR fault!)

Scared of the Dark was a crucial release to hit the mark and the results couldn't have better.

It was a wonderful choice for the lead comeback single

3. September Sun

An odd placement in the track listing really for this one! I get Paradise Lost vibes from this and I would like to see it live so it’s a shame they’ve paid it dust. Maybe on an Anti-Tour? (Manifesting!)

Good call on the Paradise Lost vibes, the vibes are there with a hint of Abba thrown in.

4. Neon Blue

I just adore this song. I don’t find it cheesy at all! As someone who has really, really struggled with mental health and acceptance, this really called out to me. Sometimes I get a bit teary listening to it, but in such a good way. We Stan progress!

Neon Blue is no more cheesy than any other Steps classic.

The song has taken its time to connect with some fans but eventually it got there.

For others, including myself, it was always excellent.

6. Story of a Heart

A cute little song that I appreciated more at the time than I do now but I do love that it’s very Abba-esque although I guess that’s Benny and Bjorn’s influence on the track haha!

The song was an instant talking point with the fans and the nod to Abba was widely mentioned in many reviews.

A strong track and good choice to give it single status.

9. No More Tears On The Dancefloor

I think the boys leading this as opposed to the girls (well, Claire aside) does really well for this track! And I never say no to more Lee….’s vocals haha!

The chorus really sells this song as it's very memorable.

7. Fool For You

I don’t really have a lot to say about this. I don’t really return to it and apart from the title, I couldn’t sing it to you anyway!

Fool For You has little qualities that make you want to return to it but as an album track it serves its purpose.

Firefly:

I think this is middle tier on the album for me, it's nice but it just falls a little short for me.

The opening 15 seconds always reminds me of the song Because The Night

I Will Love Love Again, very much a grower, and would have been a better choice of single ahead of Dancing With a Broken Heart.

Scared of the Dark was released 5 years ago today 🤯! Therefore that’s how long it has been since the Tears on the Dancefloor era began. Can you believe it’s been this long already? I really can’t :drama:

What an incredible song to make a comeback with, they couldn’t have got it more spot on

100% agree! But 5 years? Where has the time gone?

Oh wow! In a way it does feel like 5 years as I'm so familiar with this song now and the way it's been a fixture in my life through nights out, and also so much in my life has happened within that time.

I didn't know if I wanted or needed new Steps material, but the moment I heard this I knew i was on board and they've delivered such quality since.

What. A. Song!
