Saturday 18th November

BBC 1

18:00 Pointless Celebrities - 5.14m (28.0%)

18:45 Strictly Come Dancing - 10.87m (49.7%) [Peak: 11.37m (51.2%) at 20:00]

20:10 Michael McIntyre's Big Show - 6.01m (29.2%)

21:10 Casualty - 4.36m (23.5%)

ITV (inc. +1)

18:15 Catchphrase - 1.80m (9.7%)

18:50 You've Been Framed! - 1.69m (7.7%)

19:15 Ninja Warrior UK - 2.10m (9.6%)

20:10 The X Factor - 4.69m (23.3%) [Peak: 5.15m (26.0%) at 21:10]

21:40 The Jonathan Ross Show - 2.91m (17.3%)

Michael McIntyre's Big Show is only slightly down on the 6.18m that Series 2 opened with in November 2016. Its share is bigger than the 28.5% share from last year though.

Was expecting higher for Strictly. Obviously 10.9m is fantastic but Blackpool week usually sees ratings take another stride upwards and this is pretty much what it received last year, even though the rest of the ratings this series have been up year-on-year.

Whatever your opinion as to the quality, I’m glad that a new Saturday night entertainment show has been established after SO many failed ones over the last few years. Although the figures for the first series were quite average, it’s nice that it has been successful in a position after Strictly. And managing to beat The X Factor too!

The X Factor really is on the same level as The Voice now, and the latter has probably been a contribution towards that amongst other factors I've discussed before!

Sunday 19th November

BBC 1

18:05 BBC Regional News - 6.30m (32.9%)

18:15 Countryfile - 6.76m (33.2%)

19:15 Strictly Come Dancing: The Results - 10.78m (45.9%) [Peak: 12.13m (50.0%) at 19:55]

20:00 Blue Planet II - 10.76m (43.9%)

21:00 Howards End - 3.94m (16.4%)

ITV (inc. +1)

18:30 The Chase Celebrity Special - 3.31m (15.6%)

19:30 The X Factor - 4.75m (19.5%) [Peak: 5.82m (23.3%) at 20:50]

21:00 I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! - 10.36m (47.2%) [Peak: 11.26m (50.2%) at 22:00]

I'm a Celeb it slightly down on the 10.66m that opened the previous series, although its share is up on the 44.3%. Furthermore, the show had a 81.9% share among 16-24 year olds!

The repeat of last week's Blue Planet II that aired at 16:50 on BBC 1 rated 2.68m (17.2%), putting its combined total at 13.6m without consolidated figures! Assuming the first episode got a similar rating for its repeat, its combined total (BARB's 7-day data + Sunday repeat) would be 16.7m! :drama:

The Strictly peak is probably helped by people tuning in to see Blue Planet II!

That is amazing for I’m a Celeb though, 80% share amongst 16-24 is incredible!!

Updating on what I've said before, 9 programmes have had an audience of 10m+ with the official ratings (including +1). I'm a Celeb will obviously make the 10th when the officials are revealed and the New Year's Eve fireworks are likely to be the 11th. That would tie with 2016 for number of programmes over 10m - impressive when you consider there was no World Cup/Euro this year.

Provisional schedules for December have started coming in and I notice there is an Attenborough & The Giant Elephant showing on Sunday 10th December. This is the week after Blue Planet II finishes; airing an hour later at 9pm but presumably still with a Strictly lead-in. Last year, Attenborough & The Giant Dinosaur rated 8.06m on Sunday 24th January, however this was at 6:30 with a Countryfile lead-in, so that would suggest The Giant Elephant should do even better. Only problem is that it will clash with I'm a Celeb, although Blue Planet II has proven to be a huge time-shifter so perhaps it could still hit the 10m mark with officials.

The Strictly peak is probably helped by people tuning in to see Blue Planet II!

You're right - just 5 minutes before, 11.12m were watching.

It is so hard to believe from reading these ratings that there was a time when Strictly and X Factor were in battle with each other to top the ratings. Strictly is almost double the ratings of the X Factor.

Monday 20th November

BBC 1

19:00 The One Show - 3.70m (19.5%)

19:30 Fake Britain - 3.35m (16.9%)

20:00 EastEnders - 5.81m (27.6%)

20:30 Would I Lie to You? - 3.34m (15.1%)

21:00 Elizabeth and Philip: Love and Duty - 3.75m (16.2%)

ITV (inc. +1)

19:00 Emmerdale - 6.13m (32.2%)

19:30 Coronation Street - 6.85m (34.5%)

20:00 The Harbour - 3.39m (16.1%)

20:30 Coronation Street - 7.06m (31.9%)

21:00 I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! - 8.91m (40.4%)

The second episode of I'm a Celeb is down on the 9.35m of last year's second episode but, given it was 90 minutes unlike last year's 60 minutes, that's not a bad result. A 14% decrease episode-on-episode, compared to last year's 12.3% decline.

Coronation Street being boosted by viewers tuning in for I'm a Celeb.

Tuesday 21st November

BBC 1

19:00 The One Show - 3.20m (17.8%)

19:30 EastEnders - 5.49m (29.0%)

20:00 Holby City - 3.77m (18.4%)

21:00 The A Word - 2.95m (13.5%)

ITV (inc. +1)

19:00 Emmerdale - 5.90m (32.8%)

19:30 Save Money: Good Food - 2.65m (14.0%)

20:00 The Martin Lewis Money Show Live - 3.68m (18.0%)

21:00 I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! - 8.06m (36.9%)

Shame to see The A Word dip under 3m but its held up well against I'm a Celeb given it was at ~3.3m before. Meanwhile, I'm a Celeb is slightly down on 2016's episode 3 (8.21m).

Are rating figures relatively low across all soaps these days then?

Corrie seems to generally be up year-on-year, Emmerdale yo-yos between being up and down year-on-year whilst Eastenders is generally down.
