Not the best return for The A Word - the first episode of Series 1 rated 4.73m (23.1%) and had a series average of 4.25m. Only going to get worst from now on as it's football on ITV next week and I'm a Celebrity after that.

Channel 4 Press:

#GBBO final attracts 10 million viewers/ 36.9% share following 7 days consolidation - @Channel4's second biggest audience to a TV show ever

Channel 4's biggest audience for a TV show was the 10.01m that watched the Big Brother Finale back in 2002, so I'm guessing that 10m is rounded up. Shame it couldn't quite become the biggest but it's still exceeded everyone's expectations.

On the all-time list for all broadcasts on Channel 4, three outrated the Big Brother Finale:

1. Woman of Substance 04/01/1985, 14 million, Portman Productions

2. Four Weddings and a Funeral 15/11/1995, 12.4 million, Working Title Films

3. Gregory’s Girl 08/01/1985, 10.75 million, Scottish Television Enterprises

4. Big Brother Final 2002 27/07/2002,10 million, Endemol UK

Wednesday 8th November

BBC 1

19:00 The One Show - 3.38m (18.1%)

20:00 DIY SOS - 3.70m (18.4%)

21:00 The Apprentice - 5.08m (23.9%)

ITV (inc. +1)

19:00 Emmerdale - 6.42m (35.2%)

19:30 Coronation Street - 6.85m (35.9%)

20:00 Gino's Italian Coastal Escape - 3.87m (20.0%)

20:30 Coronation Street - 5.40m (25.8%)

21:00 Doc Martin - 5.60m (26.4%)

Doc Martin concludes on a series high and had a series average of 5.18m.

Regarding Bake Off, precise figures have been revealed to be 10.12m, making it the highest rated C4 programme this side of the millennium.

The Top 5 highest rated programmes for Channel 4 are:

01. 14.00m - 04/01/85 - Woman of Substance

02. 12.40m - 15/11/95 - Four Weddings and a Funeral

03. 10.75m - 08/01/85 - Gregory’s Girl

04. 10.12m - 30/10/17 - The Great British Bake Off

05. 10.01m - 27/07/02 - Big Brother Final

Turns out Woman of Substance was a TV drama, with #2 and #3 being films, so the Channel 4 Press tweet about Bake Off being the highest rated TV show still stands.

Wow at GBBO ratins!! Lower than if it were still on BBC of course...

It NEARLY beat Blue Planet.

Doc Who Xmas will probably get below 18.1 million, but anything below that is a possibility!

Sunday 5th November

19:05 The X Factor - 4.27m (18.2%) [Peak: 5.49m (22.0%) at 20:50]

21:00 Sheridan - 2.57m (13.0%)

-x-

The Last Post had a series average of 4.23m.

Strictly results reaching (just) 10m for the first time this series. Really strong peak too.

Blue Planet II increasing 440k week-on-week; it's in fact higher than any of the Planet Earth II ratings as well, which had a high of 10.63m (its only rating over 10m).

The subject matter of The Last Post doesn't scream Instant hit, so that average seems fairly good to me. The ending made it clear the writer was hoping for a second series.

Ouch at that drop for Coronation Street! Obviously 5.3m as a standalone rating is great, but a nearly 2m drop suggests its just not catching on for Corrie fans.

How does Hollyoaks do nowadays?

Don't seem to get overnights for it but, using BARB's 7-day data, it seems to be rating 1.5m-2m when C4 and E4 is combined (including +1).
