tbh not great for I'm A Celebrity last night when it was gifted the weather to drag viewers in. Not surprising to see Strictly get a series high!

Didn't realise that! I suppose being in I'm a Celeb's spot may have helped - obviously viewers of that show will know the final was on Sunday but I do think people check to see what's replacing it. Will be interesting to see how it holds up the rest of the week with a bit more competition from the BBC.

Series 06 (2009) - 16.28m

Series 07 (2010) - 17.72m

Man aliiive who were on these shows??

I'm A Celeb is actually MUCH bigger than X Factor with thr averages shown like that, with the averages being more important for advertising. That's where the money should go- it seems relatively cheap to make, with the money going into celebrity wages.

Tuesday 12th December

BBC 1

19:00 The One Show - 3.80m (20.1%)

19:30 EastEnders - 6.06m (30.6%)

20:00 Holby City - 4.37m (20.7%)

21:00 The A Word - 2.89m (14.1%)

ITV (inc. +1)

17:00 The Chase - 4.02m (28.3%)

-

19:00 Emmerdale - 6.20m (30.8%)

19:30 Save Money: Good Food - 2.76m (14.0%)

20:00 How to Spend it Well at Christmas with Phillip Schofield - 3.38m (16.0%)

21:00 Bancroft - 4.22m (20.7%)

Very pleasing to see Eastenders starting to get more 6m+ ratings now. Holby City still riding the success of last week too.

The A Word had a series average of 3.05m, over 1m down on the series average of the first series (4.25m) and makes it one of the lowest averaging dramas of 2017, but it did face tougher competition than other similarly averaging shows and was at least consistent.

Bancroft down 1.26m so it seems The A Word did affect it. I reckon it could be slightly up tonight - it faces The Apprentice which is higher rating than The A Word but then it's not a drama so the audiences may be different.

Added in the rating for The Chase as it passed the 4m mark, putting it in the Top 5 of its best ever ratings:

Doc Martin had a series average of 7.41m.

tbf it CAN when the likes of Cannonball, the latest ITV Saturday night show was getting below 2m. It’s more can it justify the amount of money it costs?

Yep, the problem of X Factor is there's absolutely nothing to replace it at the same rating level despite doing so poorly! It will survive as long as there's no viable alternative.

They would end up as the same situation as Dancing On Ice which was axed for poor ratings by its own standards but then they had nothing to replace it so lost 2-3m viewers in that slot. And now they've ended up bringing it back because they never found a replacement!

Shame to see LLR drop to its lowest overnight after gradually climbing from its second week drop, but it seems Bancroft has gained attention throughout the week as it out rated Tuesday and Wednesday's ratings. Really good ratings for Emmerdale last night.
