January 5, 20178 yr Word Up and Cannonball will both be in the bottom three- of that I'm as certain as I can be

[Average: 4.26] Chart Peak: #6 Sales: 100k 1zk0ToEA8sY Highest: Nach (8) Lowest: Juliano, DiamondHeart, JosephStyles, HarryEzra, Scene (-1) Okay, so I admittedly don't really ever go back to this, like ever. But I do think people are too harsh on this. Would something off Salute have been better? Yes. Should they have been releasing covers at this point? No. But still, for what it is, I think it's pretty fun, and I much prefer it to a lot of other charity covers, like 'One Way Or Another', 'Just Can't Get Enough' and even 'Walk This Way'. The video is also quite fun.
January 8, 20178 yr Author 14 'Cannonball' [Average: 4.94] Chart Peak: #1 Sales: 500k KlxoG9gNZU4 Highest: Jonjo, Nach, Mike Sugafan, Samantha1989 (9) Lowest: mr_pmt, SamJudd, (-1) A song, that despite giving them their first #1, even Little Mix look back on and laugh at now (Jesy and Leigh recently poked fun at it in an interview). It was after all an X Factor winner's song, but it still feels like one of the most forgetful of even those. It may have worked me for an artist like Sam Baily, but it was just so off brand for Little Mix, they may have released some ballads since this, but it still feels like it wasn't ever a good fit for them.
January 8, 20178 yr Little Mix don't laugh at this! They performed the song for the first time in a while during last years tour and they seemed extremely emotional and overwhelmed by it. It was really sweet! 'Cannonball' is still my fave winners single, tbh.
January 8, 20178 yr Author Little Mix don't laugh at this! They performed the song for the first time in a while during last years tour and they seemed extremely emotional and overwhelmed by it. It was really sweet! 'Cannonball' is still my fave winners single, tbh. They literally got asked like a month ago what they should sing in an interview recently and Leigh Anne replied with "Cannonball?" and they all laughed and Jesy was like "get lost". :') I just also wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who rated. 43 entries is amazing, and shows how much the forum has grown this year. Sorry for being so slow to get this going!
January 8, 20178 yr I like both, and I actually prefer them to quite a number of their album tracks, but I think we could tell a mile off that these would occupy the bottom 2 spots. 'Little Me' or CYL will be next I reckon.
January 8, 20178 yr Can't say I'm at all surprised to see these two bottom two. Interesting that their two least popular singles are their only two covers
January 8, 20178 yr Definitely the right 2 for the bottom positions, although I do think that 'Cannonball' is arguably worse, it's production is all over the place, sounds like there's way too much going on, and they're vocals sound a little off. I know it's an X-Factor's winners single, but this was just the wrong choice and I actually liked Damien Rice's original version, which was so moving and beautiful, this song was meant for a group to sing and works better as solo song. Some of their other performances on X-Factor that year would have been a more fitting winner's single. So glad they came over this and became FANTASTIC. 'Word Up' isn't that bad, but not very great either, it was a strange choice for them to cover, I know it was for charity, but this simply didn't work and there were so many other 80's or 90's dance classics, they could have covered like for instance 'Too Blind Too See It' by Kym Sims. But this is harmless enough, but simply didn't work and was too weak to release on it's own, and I think that this should have been a double a-side release along with a track from their 'Salute' album, like 'Nothing Feels Like You'. Just imagine 'Nothing Feels Like You/Word Up', now that would have been awesome and would have surely been a much bigger hit, instead of dropping out the top 40 after 2 weeks. I predict that 'Little Me' will be out next.
January 8, 20178 yr I loved Damien Rice's original version of Cannonball but it wasn't suited to the girls. IMO they should've released E.T. or Don't Let Go as their winners single. I have two issues with Word Up- 1 it's not great 2 it denied us Nothing Feels Like You as a single
January 9, 20178 yr Author 13 'How Ya Doin'? (feat. Missy Elliott)' [Average: 6.45] Chart Peak: #16 Sales: 160k hT_HWIIKbG8 Highest: AdamAloud, JosephStyles, Slick (10) HarryEzra (11) Lowest: Cameron (-1) People continue to do way too much with this song. It's fun! It's just the kinda basic bop Little Mix should have been releasing in their first era and it still goes off live. One of the highlights of the Get Weird tour, I'm sure most who went would agree. I'm sure people are somewhat put off by its messy release and for being their lowest charting single, even though by today's standards #16 is pretty good!
January 9, 20178 yr Cannot argue with that bottom 2, Word Up! is just something I could never get into and Cannonball is so far removed from what Little Mix are all about I think, as nice as it is. How Ya Doin'? is DISGUSTINGLY low :( the single mix with Missy is fantastic and one of their very best I think, so much fun! Also one of the best performances on tour too.
January 9, 20178 yr Gobsmacked that HYD is below CYL and 'Little Me'. It's so criminally underrated. I believe I ranked it the highest of their first era singles. Edited January 9, 20178 yr by Defaze
January 9, 20178 yr Yeh I was expecting How Ya Doin' to do a bit better to be honest. But I'm not upset it is out early, many more amazing songs to come. Definitely underrated, their only song to chart top 100 in France. Edited January 9, 20178 yr by Juliano
January 9, 20178 yr I'd definitely agree about it being one of the highlights on the Get Weird Tour. Only Little Mix could do a dance break to a Nokia ring tone and nail it
