Control Of The Knife Girl Overboard Call The Shots Damn What You Crying For Black Jacks Crocodile Tears Can't Speak French Fling I'm Falling obviously their best album, it's not perfect as Fling and I'm Falling are pretty weak but nothing unlistenable unlike all their other albums.
January 13, 20178 yr I forgot just HOW MUCH I adore my top 4 on this album. Control Of The Knife and Close To Love easily their best non-singles for me. Xenomania at their absolute BEST.
January 13, 20178 yr I'll get my rank posted soon but this is almost certainly my favourite album from them (Out of Control is certainly at least close). Those five opening tracks are pop perfection; 'Close to Love' and 'Girl Overboard' are easily mistaken for singles within that bunch. 'Black Jacks' doesn't hold up AS MUCH (I always thought I was alone in that but it's getting middle placed in here, although I'm sure I've seen it generally near the top in the past) but then Control of the Knife and 'Fling' pretty much boost it back up again (yes for the 'COTK' appreciation!!). I feel like the only reason neither 'Close to Love' nor 'Girl Overboard' were chosen as 4th single was due to wanting to keep up the consecutive Top 10 streak.

Call the Shots 11. Close to You 12. What You Crying For 1. Love this ballad. Sarah's verse near the last chorus is amazing as is the humming just before that. 2. The synths on this song are amazing. Such an interesting and risky song, especially for a girl group. 3. 'Damn' is just so catchy with its double chorus. Pretty sure it ranks so highly because Nadine is very prominent on this song and let's face it her voice >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the others. 4. Again very catchy, the trumpet and the first verse are the highlights. 5. I used to hate this song because it was so aggressive but it grew on me a lot. The chorus may be a bit repetitive but that's part of what makes it so great. 6. Again, Nadine steals the show. The first verse is solely hers and is definitely the highlight of the song. I'm not a fan of the chanting on the second verse. 7. Risky first single and not sure it paid off in the end but again very well done. Again it's Nadine with her ''I can't deny the way my d-d-dirty mind, etc.'' who wins it for me. 8. Used to always be one of my favorites but it gets bumped down for being a bit too repetitive and a bit too ''generic'' (sorry for the use of this word). I still really like it but don't play it as much. 9. Never understood why this was a single but I still like it for how sensual and sulky it is. 10. Another good song and successful single but not one of my GA favorites. I also think it's a wrong song to open the album with (should've been 'Sexy!'). 11. Lovely song but once you've heard Nadine's verse which ends 0:47 seconds in you've heard everything you need to hear. 12. Definitely the weakest song on the album. Not a weak song by any means but I can live without it. In 2007 this was one of my highlights though so it goes to show how much can change. I never realized I was such a Nadine loon to be honest... Best girl group album, ever. Yes! I always prefer the Sugababes to GA (and still do) but this album is pure pop perfection.

Girl Overboard 11. Damn 12. I'm Falling Very hard to rank as 1 through 8 are all 11/10 (though Black Jacks is definitely #1 as it's my absolute favourite GA song) and the rest are 10s and 9s. Best girl group album indeed.

A #4 peak and over half a million sales is nothing to sniff at of course, but it certainly should have spent more than 1 week in the Top 10. Meanwhile its peak of #25 in Ireland is offensive. ;o
