DEAD at the fact I only just clicked that Kim and Denise were the names of the girls in Vengaboys.

Hopefully this is where Mick will realise he's a shit father.

Maybe if Johnny actually tried opening his mouth whilst talking, he might not sound so f***ing wooden.

!

If only this were more than a likely coincidence!

I know Coldplay's 'Everglow' drags on but it was playing when Lee left Whitney and was still playing when she said he had been a while!

Great scenes between Lee and Whitney again, as was the scenes between Lee & Patrick and Martin & Stacey - the latter really are such a great soap couple and I hope they stay together forever. The last scene was so powerful, to the point where I hope Lee doesn't show up again later in the week or a couple of weeks down the line or anything.

Was quite surprised to see Preston show up - did they actually employ an actual American actor?!

I know, poor Whitney! She's never paid for a f***ing thing in her life, she won't know what to do!

I have no sympathy for Whitney  She expected to just brush away Lee's depression and carry on without helping or really doing anything. She only said "aw always here babe xxxx" tonight becasue it's valentine's day and that factors into her perfect vision of a 1950s together forever couple.

Mick is the worst though, the writing for him is abysmal :/ There isn't one single likeable quality about him, he's just been completely ruined since Kellie went on maternity leave and the only thing for him to do was get further involved in Lee's problems and marriage etc.

I know Mick and Linda are meant to be a strong couple who actually love each other unconditionally instead of having a series of affairs or whatever, but I can't wait for Linda to return and smack him in the mouth, particularly after he was going on about how hitting her was the worst thing he could have done and there was no returning from that, knowing full well that he had returned Whitney's FULL ON SNOG she planted on him when she was in hospital.

This. Definitely no sympathy for Whitney or Mick tbh and I don't like that this story is inevitably going to explore their infidelity

I know Whitney and Mick have been a bit awful to Lee, but you're acting like he's a saint. He's been awful to his family over the last few months from allowing Nancy to take the blame to Ollie through to all the lies, debts and let's not forget the Abi incident as well.
yeah Lee has been a grade A c**t too. My mum has suffered from depression all her adult life and she never behaved the way he has.

He really has! I'm still bitter over Nancy getting ostracised over the Ollie accident by Mick for weeks, yet Lee got a slap on the wrist for robbing them, having Johnny battered and putting Ollie in danger.

Absolutely this! Mick and Whitney aren't saints (especially the former with some of his reactions...) but Lee really has brought a lot of this on himself regardless of depression. There's no excuse for planning a robbery of your own house and putting your family in danger like that. I feel for him because obviously he's been struggling, but I can see why people like Mick would struggle to sympathise *to an extent*.

Nancy was to blame for Ollie's accident, although she was unnecessarily ostracised, and Lee, albeit an absolute idiot for planning the robbery in the first place - something that wasn't a direct link with his depression and should never be considered as such - did at least feel remorse and owned up to it. Saint Mick doesn't realise what a hypocrite he's been and Whitney doesn't realise how her behaviour affects things.

I too can understand why Mick would struggle to sympathise, but what kind of father completely overlooks the fact his son has just said he tried to kill himself and not see that perhaps he should try talking to him? It's interesting that Mick and Linda fell head over heals for Nancy with her epilepsy and Ollie with the effects from his accident, yet the family fail to realise that depression is just as serious as any physical condition.

Maybe Mick secretly hates Johnny like the rest of us.

Normally, don't find Whitney an easy to character to empathise with but that ending was brutal, think she'll suss out that he's doing it in the most vicious way possible to stop her looking for him and moving on with her life.

Obviously Mick is championing for worst father of the year award, but don't forget this is all technically down to Shirley's manipulation as she knows that committing an act of physical assault such as a slap, is something you don't come back from and means the relationship is beyond repair. Attempted murder, however like drowning Mick and shooting Phil is just a minor obstacle which hardly, if ever, gets brought up #DOUBLESTANDARDS #ALSOSTOPOVERCOMPENSATINGFORDEAN.

Tbf to Shirley, she has been learning of the information from Mick's very one sided, perception and it's easy to see why, having been told someone has organised a robbery and hit his wife, that she would automatically assume the worse in Lee. Plus, as you said Leonardo, she does seem to be overcompensating for her f*** ups with Dean. It doesn't make it right, of course, and I'd have thought Shirley would be someone who would at least attempt to talk to Lee, having had a couple of heart-to-hearts before hand with him.
