She was sacked from the Minute Mart after refusing to go on a retraining course (after slagging off her workplace to the papers). As a result, she couldn't sign on and she didn't start looking for work until a couple of weeks after - since looking for work, she's either been turned away or, in regards to a cleaning job, turned it down. We've had to suffer scenes of rummaging through bins for out of date sandwiches and a truly pathetic shot of her staring at a couple of chips Jack dropped, contemplating eating them. As with every character who hits bad times in Eastenders, their stupid pride stops them from asking for help - Denise could quite easily go to Kim and Vincent and tell them she needs help and they'd gladly help.

Just catching up on the last couple of weeks.

Why did Sharon let Lou have this "pajama party" with the bullies? Wasn't Sharon fully aware how they bullied Bex?

Denise has gone EXTREMELY quickly from losing her job to rooting around bins for moldy sandwiches...

Denise pouring pasta into a pan over the duff duff is actually the last straw :') Idk if I can be bothered with this anymore.

What a state it's in, eh?!

Yeah this is the closest I've been to giving up on the show :( I'll keep watching as a long-time viewer and hope it picks up but this Denise storyline is abysmal, ruining one of the best characters they have. It's Diane Parish I feel sorry for :(

Problem with the Denise storyline is there's proud and then there's plain stupid. Most people who'd end up rummaging around in bins actually have no other options and are probably living on the streets. She is too good to retrain, too good to inform her sister and too good to do cleaning work. And then she feels sorry for herself when staring at ground chips. She appears to have never ever saved any money or even considered renting out any rooms in her house.

I also don't like how Charlie is being made out to be evil by wanting to look after his own son whose mother is dead and he was only out of his life because he was threatened to stay away because DTC, I mean, Ronnie was bored of him.

Tbh I didn't even think the cliffhanger was that bad. The context showed it wasn't "shock horror: Denise makes pasta!!".

Certainly not on the same level as Kathy's sewing machine breaking. "Oh no, it's broke".

Surely the worst ever was Ben humiliating Abi with all that build and then Johnny randomly walking in grinning, oblivious to what was going on behind him and Linda becoming more interested in him then the domestic going on in her pub.

And Johnny still hasn't had a purpose since.
