April 5, 20178 yr The biggest thing holding this release back is the fact it hasn't been prominent on the Hot Songs section on iTunes for weeks. Just look at Cheat Codes, or how the likes of Julia Michaels, Dua Lipa and Lorde flew up the charts - it was more than they had (re)appeared on the Hot Songs promotion than just being in the 59p section. There's numerous other examples that show the Hot Songs section promo is worth MORE than the 59p section promo, and obviously combining them both is the most ideal. If Best Behaviour stayed 59p and was placed in the first column of Hot Songs I'm sure it'd be knocking on the door of the iTunes top 10 within a matter of days and then that'd bring the various boosts that come with it in terms of airplay and whatnot.
April 5, 20178 yr I agree! It's definitely had the rough end of the deal in terms of not being in the 'hot songs' on Spotify and iTunes. Such a shame, it's all about positioning these days not just airplay. Louisa has so much potential I really hope Syco continue to work on how best to market her. I'm hoping for one last push in terms of promo. Hopefully she gets a couple more performances, Radio 1 eventually get the song on the A list and Spotify streams keep increasing. Top 20 is still possible, LM weren't even top 100 a couple of weeks ago and it was released a few weeks before Louisa.
April 5, 20178 yr I kinda hope they move onto the third single soon. The BGT live shows are in May which would be a fantastic platform to promote her music!
April 5, 20178 yr It's not a bad song, but I'm really not surprised it's going nowhere. It doesn't sound like a hit at all (maybe in BJSC, but this isn't a particularly prominent sound in the charts), it's been over a year since she won and she's still not established a clear sound or who she is as an artist or anything. And that IS a problem as there's not really much for the public to connect to her over. The industry moves fast. She's clearly a talented singer, but she's a bit wasted on a label that has no idea how to market her. Shame x Edited April 5, 20178 yr by Chez W♀mbat
April 5, 20178 yr I agree with Chez. Both singles that she's released sound like songs that should be released in second/third/fourth eras, they certainly don't sound suitable for a first era as they don't make there mark on setting her apart as an artist. Whilst they make be tonally different to what is currently in the charts, they're quite faceless and could be done by anyone. Its like 'Touch' could NOT have been released by Little Mix in their first or second eras. Its something they've been able to build up and 'earn' as a release as that song is quite faceless for them, but of course, a hit.
April 5, 20178 yr This has been out, what, barely 4 weeks and people are writing it off already? Impact date for this is probably late this month so that'll be why Radio 1 haven't upped it from C List yet, but I doubt it'll go any higher than B List. I agree with the others in that this is good but just does not sound like a hit for her. As popular as X Factor is, it now doesn't really guarantee a huge hit post-series like it used to but that's because of the change in music listening dynamics which Louisa is falling foul to at the moment. I hope things change for her and the next single is a success! But anyway, two Top 40 singles is an achievement within the current chart situation
April 7, 20178 yr Disappointed to see this being removed from Hot songs completely now, also removed from the 59p songs section despite still being 59p :( Itunes seem to be being really unfair with it, either that or it's Syco not being bothered. It's a shame as Spotify is picking up, Radio 1 seem to be playing it a little more, If it was featured it would have given it a real boost this week.
April 7, 20178 yr Disappointed to see this being removed from Hot songs completely now, also removed from the 59p songs section despite still being 59p :( Hot Songs doesn't really make much difference unless you're in the first few songs. They removed a few songs from the 59p batch I'm not sure why? B List on R1 though!
April 7, 20178 yr Im actually starting to stan this so much, after an initial lukewarm response. Its so summery and carefree
April 7, 20178 yr X Factor isn't even that popular any more and the way she was pushed in her year will have turned enough folk off her that it's a mountain to climb over as well as a boost. Not to mention her godawful winner's single. It's early days for her. She's likely to get a smidgeon of interest in the US later in the year once Clean Bandit release their album, as she'll be on it on Tears. I'd expect the album to do decently across the pond now Rockabye has been a top 10, especially if Symphony takes off there too. It wouldn't even be out of reach for them to release Tears as a third US single. I agree with other folks though, the singles she's released so far are v. much third era singles. Best Behaviour in particular sounds almost like something Scherzinger would release, or would have released back when she was still doing that.
April 8, 20178 yr Louisa hasn't established herself as a strong act which is what I thought might happen. 'Tears' was big but essentially to the general public another female singer on a dance track - I think it done little to enhance her solo career. On paper at the moment she's a flop - Forever Young was a non event, So Good did well and stayed around for a while but missed the Top 10 and now Best Behaviour is struggling - I really like BB but it doesn't seem to be connecting with the public even TV promo didn't boost it that much, it could go Top 40 but I can't see it being a big hit. Not sure what she has achieved so far is enough for her to launch an album, I'm not even sure who her fan base is? Syco are notorious and won't launch her album if they think at best it'll scrape silver (Which seems unlikely at the moment). Just hope she has a banger lined up to release next.
April 8, 20178 yr I don't agree with you on the Clean Bandit thing, as I said before. Everyone knows that song features "Louisa from the X-Factor" and I think 'So Good' or whatever she released as her first solo single would have completely fallen by the wayside without that. She is struggling, but she has her work cut out for the other reasons I do agree with you on. *edit: She has another Clean Bandit collab on their album, maybe they'll try a second hit of the bat with that? April 8, 20178 yr Agree So Good would have struggled without Tears. I just hope they get the next single right as she has such an uphill battle 'Tears' is already 10 months old and 'So Good' is 5 months old - they will be forgotten by the time an album surfaces.
April 10, 20178 yr Praying it gets added to hot songs and gets a BGT performance or they feature the song heavily ;)
April 10, 20178 yr jesus...that video is uncomfortable viewing; a charisma free vacuum with all that unsexy gyrating and facial reactions as i said before, i wish zara was singing it
April 12, 20178 yr Buzzing for the Stefflon Don remix! She she totally push promo for the remix with performances with Stefflon!
April 12, 20178 yr I don't know how Stefflon will sound on this, but it really is a surprising and out of the blue feature to have on the remix. It could really give this the edge it needs. I'm definitely intrigued.
April 15, 20178 yr Does anyone think it will go Top 40 officially now? It's bounced around 48-69-67-51-50...
