Very underwhelming performance so far for a lead single from Katy Perry given her track record of lead number 1's from first 3 Albums!

Will still continue to climb but not shaping up to match previous successes.

Promo can only do so much for a bad song. When the public don't like it all this promo can't do much.
Almost as bad as thinking Mariah Carey would knock Ed Sheeran off #1.

Omg That was an obvious joke.

Does anyone think Chained To The Rhythm sounds like Style by Taylor Swift in some parts of the song?

Not at all.

MC2 has a new sang?!

I've noticed Castle On The Hill while at number on spotify's uk charts, is at number 6 on their global charts. How long will it stay at number 2 in theUK charts, will Katy Perry finally overtake it or maybe this up and coming Kygo/Selena gomez song
After Katy Perry's flop song "Rise" last year I could see her music career going down the drain and now with all the hype for her first proper single from hew new album and seeing where it's debuted on Spotify, it's not looking good, maybe she can still turn it around.

Who is this 'Nines' who seems to be streaming very well? A rapper, possibly?

UK rapper, in the vein of Giggs rather than a Grime MC.

When Stormzy debuted higher than Katy Perry did

Much better song.

Or at all. Floping all over the world, even in the US which is her biggest market by far. Insane.

It just isn't a strong track.

Compared to her previous debut tracks from an album, Roar, California Girls, I Kissed A Girl, this song is nowhere near that standard.

Rise was a bit different as it was mainly a promotional song for NBC Olympics coverage but I still take your point.

It is interesting how Katy does in this new era, she's consistently produced really good music over three albums but there hasn't seemed to be as much buzz about her comeback as I'd have expected.

Katy's last era is more to blame than Rise. Only two singles set the charts alight, it was a shadow of the Teenage Dream era.

But those two singles were massive though.

Yeah but compare it to the Teenage Dream era. It was definitely a downward trajectory.

Her career isn't going DOWN THE DRAIN. She's less immediately successful than she was and her "star" is fading slightly, as many artists do by their fourth era. Bruno Mars did about as well as this when 24k Magic first came out, his star is fading slightly but his career is certainly far from down the drain, it's just very tough to maintain the level of success she had for very long, it's hardly a flop.
