February 14, 20178 yr The Flood by take that is another one from them that I think people would generally think was a no.1 hit, still don't know myself how it failed it was a sure fire no.1 hit. Robbie's had a few other hits I'd argue that people think have been no1 but Feel and Let Me Entertain You are probably the main two, aside from Angels. I think from this decade we've had a lot of massive songs that haven't reached the top yet you'd think they would have; Kesha - Tik Tok Gaga - Born This Way Pink - Screech Passenger - Let Her Go Bastille - Pompeii Taylor Swift - Shake It Off/ I Knew You Were Trouble Labrinth - Earthquake John Legend - All Of Me George Ezra - Budapest OMG that screechy pile of SHET - no one in their right mind would think that Adele rip-off got to no.1 and it wasn't massive, it was just radio cannon fodder!!!!!!!
February 14, 20178 yr Spice Girls - Stop The first 10 singles by Spice Girls are all very well known, but Stop is a clear standout and when they reunited in 2007, it was the 'old song' that they performed most to promote the Greatest Hits Yup it is one of their most famous - shame it was the one that flopped at no.2 tbh :/ Dunno what they were thinking going up against a 90s dance ANTHEM that was on tv music channels for yeaars after right into the 00s.

February 16, 20178 yr Right Said Fred I'm Too Sexy Shania Twain That Dont Impress Me Much Savage Garden Truly Madly deeply Any single by One Direction
February 16, 20178 yr Semi-Charmed Life is one of those songs that many people probably know, even if they don't know they do. The 'do-do-do-do-do-do-do' hook is so prominently used in various films/TV shows etc... That said, it doesn't fit in this thread imo, it's not THAT famous in the UK.
February 16, 20178 yr Dolly Parton - 9 to 5 Dolly Parton - Jolene Maybe idk? I asked my grandparents if they had any idea on where these charted and they both thought '9 to 5' was a number one. They said 'Jolene' was a top 10 hit (they were correct). '9 to 5' didn't even crack the top 40! :(

February 23, 20178 yr The one that immediately springs to mind to me is "Thank You For The Music" by Abba, only got a belated single release in 1983 and peaked at No. 33. Cyndi Lauper deserves a mention too - "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", "True Colors" and "Time After Time" have all aged very well.
February 24, 20178 yr Madonna - Frozen. Always behind 'My heart will go on' Frozen was number one for a week before Celine Dion knocked it off.
February 24, 20178 yr Pulp - Common People was a decade defining song in the 90s. Oh and The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony. I agree on Wonderwall as well of course.
February 24, 20178 yr I asked my grandparents if they had any idea on where these charted and they both thought '9 to 5' was a number one. They said 'Jolene' was a top 10 hit (they were correct). '9 to 5' didn't even crack the top 40! :( From memory, haven't checked: Jolene reached No.7 and 9 To 5 only got to No.45.
