Agree it wouldn't have taken much at all to make sure this went Top 10, it's not like they would have had to haul themselves round daytime TV or something. Literally a key performance on LIS would have clinched it.

There is clearly a demand for them as not many acts can challenge for a Top 10 placing in the streaming era and it's even more impressive for Take That that they have managed to combat streaming with seemingly huge physical sales.

I find it more frustrating that they will miss a top 10 placing due to poor promotion. As you say, it would'nt have taken much of a push to have made Giants another top 10 hit.

Personally I'm surprised they didn't secure a BRITs performance, I mean they're EASILY a big enough name ands Giants sounds made for big live performances.

#7 in today's mids - they have only sold an additional 2,000 since Monday.

Tragic that apart from a web interview they have done 0 promotion - not even a pre-recorded slot on daytime TV! It's not like they would struggle to get on most shows - appreciate they might not want to go on certain shows but anything is surely better than nothing?

The single is also down to #28 on iTunes. I find it baffling that they managed to combat lack of streams by making a physical bundle available and then literally sat back and done nothing else

It makes no sense to me. I just hope they can hold on to top 10...although, it's unlikely if they only sell another 2k today and tomorrow
2K is disappointing but its an improvement on selling only 1k from Monday to Tuesday.

They tweeted earlier that more signed CD single bundles were available, they sold out pretty quickly which will be a welcome boost.

Seriously if (And a big if!) they make the Top 10 it'll be a huge achievement with no promo and no streams!

Triangle meant 2k sold across 2 days, so it's 1k per day - no improvement.

The Brit awards will also push them down further as most of the performers from that are rising.
It will prob do a chart run of 12-54-77-68 out is what I'm expecting now.

Will definitely be out of the Top 50 next week (I think it could fall further TBH). It's #37 on iTunes, streams are minimal and I doubt they will sell any physicals outside of week 1.

Such a frustrating release! It bothers me that they combated lack of streams with physicals and then didn't do any promo! I know Howard's baby was born this week but they could have pre-recorded some/any promo :nocheer:

Was hoping for #11 or #12 - So frustrating that they are so close to the Top 10 and a LIS performance probably would have got them there.

Dreading the inevitable 13-67 drop next week.

For comparison their lead singles so far -

Take That & Party/Do What U Like #82

Everything Changes/Why Can't I Wake Up With You #2

Nobody Else/Sure #1

Greatest Hits/How Deep Is Your Love #1

Beautiful World/Patience #1

The Circus/Greatest Day #1

Progress/The Flood #2

Progressed/Love Love #15

lll/These Days #1

Wonderland/Giants #13

Impressive physical sales, but disappointing that between streaming and downloads it only managed 12,000.The big drop next this week is a certainty.

Number 86 debut in Ireland this week.

Disappointed the Ultimate Collection has departed the top 100 as it has been as high as 87 in some mid-weeks. The Brits affect probably knocked it out

That's a grim opening week in Ireland for them but I guess they didn't have the added benefit of physicals to boost them in Ireland. Still white fall from 'These Days' which went to #8 there.
I don't think that's too bad, obviously it will dive bomb but even considering how much has changed in the climate for acts like these to make a decent impression in the singles chart since they last released music.

It's pretty impressive that, in terms of sales, TT are not that far off from Ed Sheeran. Ed is staying so high mainly due to streaming.

Take That were no 5 in the sales charts - that says a lot about how streaming is screwing them over.

Although, if enough fans bought the single, streaming wouldn't have been important after all.

Evening all, my first post here!

Disappointing placing but considering the lack of promo and video, coupled with the impact of streaming I guess it could have been a lot worse. When IS the video coming by the way? I thought it was filmed a few weeks back.

I dread to think what would've happened without the exclusive b-sides on the physical CDs though. I bought the 2 cd bundle purely for extra songs and I assume I wasn't the only one to do so. If all they had released was a one-track download I wouldn't have bothered buying it, Id've just waited for the album to come out (is that bad of me? Lol)

Welcome Mottfan!

Completely agree, could you imagine if they had done something to These Days or The Flood (i.e. no b side or proper physical).

In fairness, top 15 is still a great result when compared to acts like them, or even Robbie (he's had a tonne of promo this era and still hasn't had a top 20 single from THES). Let's not forget top 15, in the streaming era with ZERO promo.

Let's hope they are saving all the promo to give the album a big kick!

Robbie has charted with LML for months and beats TT new lead single on iTunes still. Plus all of his singles chart in more than two dozen countries, his album went to no 1 in 16 countries. How can you be that biased as fans of Take That?

Just like the lack of impact PLAR made in the UK (it charted at no 1 in other countries) Giants simply does bad. The chart position is due to the preorders of people who simply order because ot is TT. As soon as they heard the single it lost its impact and drowns. The reason is not the lack of promo. As you see with PLAR you can promo endless when people don't 'get' the song. They don't get Giants. I think it is not because the song is not good. It is as good as any song. But TT is a 5 or at least a 4 piece. TT 3 is not that appreciated. And gary needs a lot of time for other projects. For me, Wonderland will be relased so that they have a UK tour based on the album and Mark and Howard can own a bit of TT money. Gary does not need it anymore.
