Night falls over Zaratigone, and as it does, a shimmering wave of electric light replaces the sunlight. The Electro Forest within which Séyetana’s northernmost state capital is located, does this every night, but even so, Danaelandan, Altyrian and other assorted tourists on the shoreline look on in awe as the luminescence rolls up from the shoreline all the way to the distant hills in the east. It is accompanied by the excitable sound of electronic dance beats as the city’s clubs open for the night. Unusually, very few guitars can be found in this part of Séyetana and as such it receives a lot of tourists although Ziadiz elites would never admit that it gets more than their city. Which it does.

 

In the centre of the wooded city lies the Enchanted Arbor Ballroom, a high-class affair notable for the first sellout Nightcore performance in the Buzzjack world, led by The Cab and helped by sinister and controversial speeding technology. Tonight though, the atmosphere is more refined, although none of the guests, from all over the Buzzjack World, know quite what they are in for, they were merely promised a ‘night to remember’. Atop the royal balcony, Baroness Diamandis is in attendance, with her two aides TNT and SOS. She notices her arch-rival, Zaslavski, in the crowd below, fresh returned from a visit to Cor Lupus and is about to give the order to evict him before a gong sounds for attention.

 

On the front stage of the ballroom, a lone figure steps out, wearing a mask painted with the Seyetan flag of a sun-coloured eye emblazoned on a light blue field. The baroness, after consultation with her aides, who were informed in advance, recognises her as Tei Shi, a Denrayber sponsored entrant for Séyetana some years ago. Zaratigone did aid Denrayber with the funding on that occasion, the two cities regularly find common ground due to their high acceptance of music tastes, so Diamandis nods with approval as a hushed silence falls over the busy room.

 

“Greetings, citizens of the Buzzjack world,” Tei Shi called, taking off her mask and showing her face to the world. “Welcome to the Buzzjack Song Contest Masquerade event!”

 

She continued. “Many of you here today may recognise me from when I represented Séyetana with the wonderful Bassically. Tonight, I represent Séyetana again in this spinoff contest but…” she pauses to take in the cheers, ”with one catch – the Séyetan BJSC committee has not sponsored me, another, mystery country has.”

 

A woman wearing an Ultraviolenceland mask stepped forward, and revealed herself to be Noonie Bao, a very recent winner of the main contest, prompting more cheers. “The same goes for all of us,” she continued, pointing to a host of bands and solo artists that emerged from the shadow of the trees at the back of the open-air stage, all wearing masks which they removed and held high above their heads.

 

“Each of us, though we represented who we appear to have been sent by at some point in the past, has been sponsored by a different BJSC committee,” a Ojnojian resplendent Kristinia DeBarge explained, the oldest entrant in the contest. She hails from BJSC 19, before most of the countries tonight were formed, including Séyetana.

 

“Your task, should you choose to accept it,” said the Ashtonise-apparent Nina Nesbitt, “is to guess who actually sent us, and to enjoy the show!”

SHOW RULES

2. Unlike in most BJSCs, you may, if you so wish, vote for the entry under your normal country name. You may not vote for the entry that you yourself sent in, whatever country name that one may be under. Pray I keep track of this.

3. The deadline for all votes to be received by is 3rd March 2017, 23:59. If you do not submit valid votes by this deadline the entry you sent will receive a 33% deduction in points.

4. Do not reveal or hint at which entry you are responsible for, instead have fun in the guessing game and approving or disapproving of what has been picked for your country.

Is she the one who was entered like 92 times in BJSC?!!

 

I never heard this particular song so I hope I will like it.

I'm pretty sure I'm not a fan of that Chairlift song but Chairlift was one of my fave entries that I sent so kudos :cheer:

I love Let It Happen but a little disappointed considering Tame Impala was the cheapest I have ever sent but good song tho!
Oh my days, I'm sorry but PRAY TO GOD that I forget how IRKED I am right now at whomever picked THAT of all the things to go for. You had FLORRIE, JESS MILLS, and any number of INCREDIBLE artists to go for. I mean I love Ramin, but no.

Approving of the somewhat inspired choice to send one of my underappreciated DNQ artists (I'm gonna pretend the person responsible actually knows the one I sent and not the much bigger hit from Singerpurear, even though that is likely not the case :kink:) - not heard this Kadie Elder track but looking forward to hearing it, and the rest of these songs of course!

 

Have to feel a little bit sorry for Deandria here when Mattias specifically posted saying he hopes the person who got him didn't send Allie X. At least it's not one of her more well-known songs??

Nevertheless, I have sent Tensnake to both UP and BJSC, so clearly not a bad choice at all, though not an act that screams Rontvia all the same.

I mean, as far as I'm concerned, Tei Shi hardly screams Séyetana but I guess she was one of the artists who was more likely to be picked for me seeing as it's one of the few times in the last few years that I've gone with an entry that's outside my normal sound and more towards the stereotypical BJSC sound.

 

Still, I picked Bassically over this one at the time because that was way better than Nevermind The End back then - kinda hoping it grows on me, it would feel weird not to point myself. But I'm far from decided on votes yet.

Wow, so many people still prepared to go so cheap, pretty disappointing really. I mean, wasn't Twenty One Pilots vetoed? and going for an artist that just won LAST CONTEST for a country that's been going for a couple of years now? There does still seem to be a lot of inspired choices just on first glance but it is disappointing to see certain names appearing, and a few recent artists.

 

As the song representing me, I was kind of hoping for something else as it's not the route I would have taken but I suspected I may be taken reluctantly into the dancebloc.
