Just watched tonight's episode... I need a moment for that to settle in. Corrie has far and away been the best soap this year and that's the best episode I've seen in years.

Everything about this storyline has been perfect: the pace, the tone, the acting. It's been so gripping and unnerving and climaxed with a thrilling half hour episode. Those final few minutes... wow. I was scared for Yasmeen and had my hand over my mouth when she stabbed him. I can't remember the last time a soap could evoke such strong emotions towards characters. I wasn't expecting it to be so brutal and wasn't anticipating the intensity of the scene, but it was pitched just right.

I know we've had plenty of wrongful imprisonments and neighbours assuming they're guilty type stories on Corrie but, if that's the path they go down, this one will actually feel earned. I'll be rooting for Yasmeen and I'll find the reactions from her friends and neighbours to be believable (seems like reactions could be mixed too going by what Eileen saw). I can't wait for what's to come!

The show really feels like Corrie as it should be after the shambles of 2019, this storyline has been amazing. Shelley King and Ian Bartholomew have to be two of the best actors in ALL soaps.
It's a shame that BSA has been cancelled this year because Corrie would sweep the board with this. Not that awards should be the forefront to these storylines, but it would feel incredible earned.

They could’ve just had the awards revealed online it’s not like it would cost anything, kinda shows the whole thing is just an opportunity for a piss up  They’ll probably extend the eligibility period for next year so it can get some awards, so so deserved. Deffo the best soap!

I don’t know about it being the best soap but I’d say this deserves best storyline.

Ian definitely deserves an award for villain of the year too! And perhaps the two of them for onscreen partnership.

Well it's certainly better than the crap EastEnders has been serving up recently. They should take notes from Corrie for their own domestic abuse storyline.
Fully agreed with the consensus in here, Corrie's been handling this storyline impeccably, in good taste and with brilliant storylining and acting. Tonight's episode was an incredibly tough watch and I felt so uncomfortable watching it - meaning it served just the purpose it needed to.

I know this is the Corrie thread but I’m not overly impressed with the EE storyline tbh especially compared to this, at the start it was really effective but now it’s just going round in circles. Gray hits Chantelle, he apologises or doesn’t, everyone else praises him, rinse repeat. I know that’s how it often works in real life but it doesn’t make a captivating soap story that you’re gripped to see what happens next. It doesn’t help that the acting...isn’t the best from either of them.

I really can’t remember the last time I winced and felt uncomfortable that much at a soap.

My heart was pounding and I felt emotional too especially in the scene where she was first trying on the dress and in the scene where it just showed her silent when she went to the toilet. Even Shelley Kings facial expressions alone without any dialogue are just captivating

This is an incredible storyline anyway but I think the fact it comes in tandem with the situation we find ourselves in just brings it to even higher levels. When you think of the people who will be trapped with abusive partners etc. during this lockdown, it feels even more harrowing, but also with the timescale being as it is it feels like Yasmeen's ordeal is even more drawn out and enduring, perfectly fitting for what has always been a slow burn storyline. We get less episodes, so a week is stretched over longer, the time goes on and I don't think any storyline could have fit that more perfectly.
A well run storyline which I fear will be ruined by too much sensationalism which will take away from the plot and not be useful to anyone watching suffering a similar situation.

Confirmation that Corrie will address coronavirus in new episodes: https://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/coronation...uture-episodes/

I think they've got the right approach: have it exist within the Corrie world but not allow it to be a dominant feature. I'm personally looking forward to what will probably be longer scenes with minimal cast, perhaps some 'two-hander' type episodes.

So just 21 episodes left after this week until they run out. That takes them to Friday 9th July in my reckoning. They may drop to 2 a week shown soon to eke them out as long as possible. They hope to begin recording again in June though but if not, blank screens in July.

So Corrie resumes filming next week with no kissing or older cast members. So no Ken, Audrey, Rita for a while yet. Seems there won't be a break in transmission then as was feared. I believe Emmerdale started last week.
