Think plenty of this generation watched the original and would have an interest in seeing a new version!

Definitely, but it seems to have really captured a younger audience too, which is great.

I think anyone that went into it hoping for them to have improved the 1990 version was in for a treat. Pretty much everything was done better, even if the original Pennywise was arguably closer to the book version.

Any younger horror fans that went hoping for it to scare the pants of them may leave a little disappointed.

I really like the original too esp Tim Currys version of the clown and the way it was a mix of Stand By Me and another King book!

This was fantastic. Genuinely creepy and tense for the most part. Did it need to be 2 hours? No. But it was so refreshing to have such an expertly crafted modern day horror. This just further proves we need less of the paranormal stuff and more psychological sort of horrors, imo.

The group of kids were all fantastic and not annoying! The 2nd one is going to be hard to do because I feel the kids in this movie have created such a strong dynamic together. But we shall see.

9 out of 10 for me.

I didn't think I was scared of clowns... This movie made me question that!

I would say the kids will still be in the second part too!

They won't be in it much as the second part of the book jumps forward 27 years iirc so they are only appearing via flashbacks I think!

I'm not usually a big fan of horror (I get a bit too easily scared) but I thought this was really good. I'm glad it was more on the creepy side of the spectrum rather than jump scares because that's the sort of horror that gives me sleepless nights. I'll still be wasting my Dad's energy bill for the next month by sleeping with my lamp on but it didn't make me jump a lot or anything like that which was a good thing.

My favourite scenes were probably the opening boat/drain scene (my jaw dropped when

Georgie's arm got bitten clean off :o

) and the projector scene which became so much more tense with every new image showing through the projector. Bill Skarsgård did a really good job and he was SO unnerving but I would've liked to see more of him as I was definitely on the edge of my seat most during the scenes with him in.

I agree with a lot of the critics that the kids are a big highlight of the film too. I was not expecting it to be as funny as it is but I laughed out loud at multiple times (loved the virgins joke as well as pretty much anything that came out of Richie's mouth) but Jaeden Lieberher's character had a great character arc and I found Eddie really funny too. I also appreciated how the adults in the film were just as unsettling and evil as Pennywise himself. Even the pharmacist worker had my skin crawling with his Lois Lane so I thought that was really well done.

I hardly ever do horror and was checking this out due to the massive buzz around it and I found it rather 'meh' tbh, like 6/10. Didn't find it that scary really which is both a positive as I don't want to be having sleepless nights, but it also feels a bit pointless as it is a horror after all. I found it weird more than anything and there wasn't as much Pennywise as I was expecting.

The kids were good though and I didn't feel particularly bored or like it was dragging, despite the length.

They should cast the people who played the kids in the original version as the adults in the sequel except for Jonathan Brandis who sadly died in 2003
The only kid I found annoying was Richie and I don't know why.
Apparently, Jessica Chastain is wanted for the sequel!!
I didn't like it. Relied way too much on jump scares for my taste and the new Pennywise didn't sounds scary at all. I like the original miniseries and Tim Curry's Pennywise much better.
I finally got around to seeing this today and I enjoyed it. It certainly seems to be a tad overhyped at the moment though. I didn't find it as scary as I would have hoped.

This was a very good film, I liked all the intricate sub-plots being brought together & the fact there were essentially, two antagonists - being the bullies and the clown.

It wasn't scary though let's be honest, Pennywise was more of a jokey character than a scary one imo. The only iterations of his that were "creepy" for a better term were that sideways faced woman & the p****-dad.

I did like how they developed all the kids personalities throughout but I must admit that Jay from the Inbetweeners one got a bit annoying, I get a few childish jokes here & there are fine but it was literally every single sentence, got very eye-rolly.

Oh thank god I'm not the only one. Everyone else seems to love him and I couldn't stand him, so annoying! Easily the worst character.

Loved this, completely lived up to my high expectations which often doesn't happen when I set them so high!

The child actors were all perfect, not one was a bad actor and that's quite rare among child actors, I'm often particularly critical! Onviously, that's crucial to this film when they are the only real cast in the film. They worled brilliantly individually as well as altogether, I particularly was a fan of Eddie whereas in the book he's perhaps lower down for me!

After hearing so much about how its lacking in scares, I did end up being suprised at how scary it actually was in the end! I think there's enough decent scares in there, my particular fave scare was

where he was massive in the garage because of the high level of threat!

. Often scares rely on you not seeing the monster too so having It be front and centre of everything makes it harder than other movies, although he is a very chilling monster in his own right of course!

Overall, a brilliant horror film that has a story front and centre of it and it's refreshing to see some horrors do well that aren't based on paranormal stuff (e.g. Get Out which I still need to see!). So so so happy it's been a massive box office success after a really BAD summer for Hollywood. Hope it inspires more care over horror movies rather than rushing them out.

Yeah, I'm hoping with the success of It, Get Out and Don't Breathe and the dwindling success of movies like Lights Out, Annabelle etc. that we will start to move towards horror movies that are more slashers / movies with a physical threat. I always find them more exciting and scary personally.

Not quite. Annabelle: Creation has outgrossed the first one in every respect. Currently on more than $40 million more worldwide (and $20 million more domestically).

Oh :(

Well that was just wishful thinking then!

James McAvoy and Bill Hader are in talks for the sequel!

GREAT choices. Particularly McAvoy!
