May 5, 20179 yr Despacito is getting very close to #1 now on iTunes (even closer combined) I wonder if that could be a contender in the next couple of weeks? I originally didn't think it would get so close but it looks like it may take over from I'm The One at some point (so it will come down to streaming).
May 5, 20179 yr Are we even sure 'The Cure' is an actual single and not something she released for the fans/coachella? I'm not even sure we'll get a video. (Unless it's been confirmed already?)

It's a single. It's playlisted on Heart, Capital, Kiss and Radio 2, and has been serviced to radio in the US
May 5, 20179 yr Well, once you get dumped by Radio 1, it's hard to get back into their good graces unless you come back with a huge track. "Decent" won't cut it for her at this point. I think she was lucky she wasn't dumped after G.U.Y. failed to make any impact. I also think there's a certain confusion exactly what The Cure is supposed to be promoting - it's not for her fifth album? Is there an EP? A press release and a proper strategy would probably at least not hurt her.
May 5, 20179 yr We're a music discussion forum so you can't just brand opinions you don't like as irrelevant. The whole point of this site is to discuss music and I am not oging to pretend something is a good song when it isn't. BTW was a weak follow up to The Fame Monster musically. The first two singles were good but the others were awful. The album has some good songs though and it did well in terms of charts and sales. It's more to do with you passing off your personal opinion as fact and using it to justify Radio 1's decision and explain what you deem to be the entire public's perception of her, whilst ignoring all facts, logic and reason. Makes you look slightly dense.
May 5, 20179 yr She's hardly that irrelevant already to R1? This song is top 10 on radio now and is doing well on spotify and i tunes. Surely it should go by the particular song if they think shes irrelevant. This song should definitely be supported going by how well it is doing, it's a popular song at the moment. The singer doesn't really have to be popular but the song is. Ariana Grande and Tinie Tempahs singles are flopping and they still are supporting them, are they irrelevant now, why are they still on the playlist? Edited May 5, 20179 yr by Zeebre12
May 5, 20179 yr I've noticed R1 have given The Cure the odd play outside the chart, I really don't think it's totally out of the question for the playlist yet, so long as it continues to hold up on iTunes and grow on Spotify. They're going to prioritise other artists though, Kygo/Ellie and Despacito still aren't even playlisted yet.
May 5, 20179 yr I think Katy will find herself in the same boat as Gaga very soon. Shame 'Best Behaviour' is definitely done now. :( Everyone who first emerged in the music scene in the 2000s are now vulnerable to Radio 1 now!
May 5, 20179 yr Gaga, as a Female in the 30's is no longer relevant to what seems to be age-obssessed, mysognistic Radio 1, she's likely gone from their radar for good. And before any idiot references Beyonce, her days of being playlisted as she nudges ever closer to 40 are numbered too.

And calling people idiots for not agreeing with your points isn't going to help you if you want to stick around on this forum.

In your opinion; but you are NOT right and this is a discussion forum is it not? Your post sounds like a threat to me.... and I will say the same thing if it's true. Using the word 'Idiot' was wrong, I should have gone with 'sheep'.
May 5, 20179 yr I feel like Beyoncé's in a different category of her own in terms of being an unstoppable force (especially in terms of her cultural relevance she has), compared to the other 'pop' girls like Gaga and Perry. I don't see Radio 1 being on the verge of being done with her any time soon, and I say this as someone who isn't a fan.
May 5, 20179 yr Explain how Sia is being playlisted still at the age of 41 then? I feel Sia benefits a lot from being 'faceless' (literally).
May 5, 20179 yr DJ Khaled is 41 as well and I'm The One is about to go :no1: and playlisted so age is not a problem.
May 5, 20179 yr Explain how Sia is being playlisted still at the age of 41 then? Explain this interesting article re the BBC itself - I state for the last time, it's a problem for the BBC, and BBC radio 1 especially: https://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/nov/...-gagging-clause

May 8, 20179 yr Oh wow, just noticed 'Brazil' is back on the playlist. It's too late to happen now but I always thought it had a chance of being big, although that's in part because 'Budapest' was also named after a place starting with B and look how big that was. :P Nice to see it playlisted again though, pretty sure it was just on the INMWT list last time!
