Like a Prayer will hopefully win but I'm predicting a Vogue win, probably her most ICONIC video if I had to think of just one *-*

The original intention was for the Top 20 to go through to another round where they'd be re-ranked, but I'm going to miss that out so these results are the be all and end all.

When 'Everybody' started getting spins in local clubs, its R&B grooves and her image not appearing on the record sleeve led people to believe Madonna was a black artist. A music video cleared up this misconception and enabled Madonna to expand her audience and establish exactly the artist she was. Filmed at the New York nightclub Paradise Garage, Madonna, along with two other dancers, performs a routine choreographed by herself. It's a simple dance but nevertheless an effective one that people could copy when shown in the clubs. The highlight of the video, however, is the seductive looks Madonna gives towards the camera; it's confident and cheeky, demonstrating that, right from the start, Madonna knew how to play the game and entertain her audience. 'Everybody' proved Madonna would be a force to be reckoned with.

 

 

Burning Up // 0 Points

It would seem the potential shown in the 'Everybody' video was realised by Sire Records as they raised the stakes with 'Burning Up', hiring Steve Barron, hot on the heels of his work on Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean', as director and including then-high tech computerised effects (a laser beam shoots from a pair of sunglasses - how very 80s!). Madonna channels her idol Debbie Harry with the messily dyed blonde hair and homemade jewelry (the bracelets were in fact typewriter belts) and plays with the idea that sexuality makes women submissive to the hands of men. She kneels and crawls provocatively in the street in front of an advancing car driven by her on- and off-screen boyfriend Ken Compton, however, the end of the video shows it's in fact Madonna driving the car and, with a defiant smile, she proves that she is in control and her sexuality is a source of strength.

 

I'm not overly familiar with those two videos and songs so not fused bout them being on 0 :lol:

Yeah, I agree. As I spoke about, they both scratch the surface of what Madonna is about and it's great to watch that rawness but, when we're talking about Madonna's videography, there's so many that have more going for them and deserve the points more.

Madonna continues the Hispanic style from 'La Isla Bonita' in the video for 'Who's That Girl?', sporting a wide-brimmed Spanish hat and bolero jacket, creating a slightly masculine look. Scenes from the film of the same name are intertwined with the plot of the music video as Madonna wonders around a park looking for an Egyptian treasure casket. It's a very simple video with a basic plot line, but does the trick in terms of teasing the film.
