Gareth Philips (exec producer of Red Rock and briefly Hollyoaks) is rumoured to be the next permanent exec producer.

 

I liked his work on Hollyoaks even though it was very brief but he did really well with the character of Silas Blissett and introduced Warren's son Joel and teens Tilly, Maddie and Jono.

At this point, I'm not going to have any expectations based on previous work. SOC worked on Eastenders during one of its most successful periods and transformed The Archers, for instance. Tbh, I think having no previous association with Eastenders will probably be for the best - hopefully that will mean the show will start being more forward-thinking rather than relying on past glories and making a succession of awful retcons.

Just be alert as well, the English GCSE results have been down across the country I think (could just be Weeyals tbh) but it will be interesting (or boring) to see how Denise did.

It would be great if everyone stopped going on about how great Mick and Whitney are and acting like Linda just went in some massive holiday.
