A 5th week in the top 75 *just* for "Bridge Over Troubled Water". I predicted it'd be about 75-100 places lower by now so it's slightly outperforming my expectations of it.

George Ezra new peak I believe? I really hope it catches on. It's still early I suppose...

For reference, this would be the top 40 without ACR, with the official chart position listed next to it:

(not taking into account any songs outside the top 40 of either chart)

well I can definitely see why they've done ACR, barely any movement in that top 20 without it. just a bit conflicted over DJ Khaled getting the #1 on a technicality.

It does look crazily stale without ACR  and tbh, even though Wild Thoughts has totally fluked the #1, I'm happy the turnover at #1 should be a little bit faster!

ACR has its benefits in freshening up the chart a bit but I don't think it should in any case be applied to a #1 record, they should have made an exclusion for that in the new rules...

It is funny that in the era of fake news we essentially have a fake #1, a song that is not topping any metric, either singular or combined, yet gets there officially! The OCC really thought this one through...

This chart rule is ridiculous... Despacito drops from #1 despite being the most popular song just because IT'S OLD but down the chart we find Shape of You and Something Just Like This climbing a lot.

Edited July 22, 20179 yr by SKOB

I don't think ACR should be applied to the top 10, when Descapito is clearly the #1 single, it just seems DJ Khalid got there on a whim. The top 20 has hardly any changes to it, I know the singles chart needed a change, as Gooddelta points out it has its benefits in lower end of the chart. OCC have really made a mess of things. I hate to think how the end of the year singles chart going to look like.

Thanks Dan for the breakdown, it makes an interesting read.

I don't think I've ever been confused with Joseph before, we're not that similar

ooops, credit to Joseph :( you have no long hair :heehee:

Something Just Like This is climbing legitimately though, because of a new version and album streams.

Interesting to see the chart without ACR but I echo a lot of other comments about how ridiculous this is. I remember people complaining on how One Dance held the no.1 spot for so long when it wasn't on downloads but this is just simply stupid as Despacito is no.1 on both and still isn't.

Something Just Like This is climbing legitimately though, because of a new version and album streams.

Ah ok, didn't realise that, thanks!
