November 10, 20177 yr Beyonce’s parts are really cute! It’s not what I expected and all, but it’s not that bad. Can see it growing. Quite an emotional song. Won’t go anywhere near #1, but may debut top 10.
November 10, 20177 yr it's not what I expected or wanted but I'm liking it on first listen, it's great to have him back and the bare production suits the topic of this song.
November 10, 20177 yr Bey sounds beautiful and the chorus is definitely the highlight. Really don't think the verses and the chorus mesh well though and the whole thing is a little dry for a lead.
November 10, 20177 yr Also, "Bitch, I wrote Stan" may be the biggest mic drop moment of the year. Em just casually reminding us why he's a legend.
November 11, 20177 yr Maybe it helps that my expectations were pushed so low but I don't think this is that bad at all. A bit too dry for me to want to listen to much, but the lyrics are really good! It's weirdly cathartic to see Eminem facing his criticism head-on, being very aware of the impossible standard he has to meet. It works a lot better than when he pulled the lousy 'that last Relapse album was ehh' only a year later on "Not Afraid". You can hear the sheer frustration, and the paper scrunching in the background works well. For a star who often seems to be in his own world, this is surprisingly vulnerable. November 11, 20177 yr I think this song is supposed to be a big moment because of the lyrics but tbh, they leave me pretty cold. I don't know if that's because I don't really care that much about Eminem or because I just don't think they are that good. I can only echo what everybody else has said. It's pretty dull and lifeless.

This post basically sums up my thoughts! I was expecting this to be throwaway garbage based on the reaction in here so far / just how disappointing so many other recent Eminem singles have been (especially 'Guts Over Fear' which has to be the worst song he's ever made) but I actually quite like this, albeit not in an 'I want to listen to this on repeat' way. I do feel like it could have done without Beyoncé's contribution though. Her vocals are great and all but I don't think they fit the rest of the song particularly well. (The thread title can be updated now btw, paging someone with that power xx)
November 11, 20177 yr First reaction to Em/Beyonce, big dislike. It might grow but I don't have high hopes, it brings together the worst styles for me of both artists that I like the least.
November 13, 20177 yr He's performing on SNL next week, most likely Walk On Water + the future second single or an album track. Maybe the second song he performs will be the carry on from "Bitch, I wrote Stan" which sounds a lot like a "f*** the haters" type of song aka the best kind of Eminem song. Hopefully Beyonce will make an appearance on SNL too  Edited November 13, 20177 yr by Dexton
November 13, 20177 yr First live performance from last night's EMAs where Eminem also won Best Hip Hop: jEtTDPkjoFc I do like the song although I think Skylar suits the style a lot more than Beyoncé (and that's saying a lot as a huge Bey fan) but it's obvious that they went with her as she's a much, much bigger name. It's currently #4 in the midweeks, I can see it holding on to a top five place this week although I'm not sure if it'll climb further in later weeks.
November 16, 20177 yr It's currently #4 in the midweeks, I can see it holding on to a top five place this week although I'm not sure if it'll climb further in later weeks. I reckon it'll climb next week from the strength of his album streams... I think the album comes out tomorrow anyway. Unless he has another Rihanna collab in the waiting that'll overshadow it.
