I like his comments and it is Always entertaining the way he presents something.

I also love that he does not disappear these days. However, most of the social media stuff is so superficial. FB and twiiter is for fast consumption and that's it. Despite we are few here it is still a bit old forum vibe and I enjoy it

I wonder how Jackie and Susie are? I do miss them.

"Speaking Tongues"

I'll tell you all a story 'bout a man who isn't here

Who had a pocket full of chemicals, some cigarettes and beer

I went out to Ibiza runnin' from the pourin' rain

I drank a poco loco and I'd never be the same

I met up with some boys they called themselves the diamond dogs

They were either on the dancefloor or dealing in the bogs

And a reformed gangster got me and he said that he found God

He looked me in the eyes and he started speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

Everybody's sayin' take that, take that

And I'm about to do exactly that-ah

And I'm the cheeky f***er at the back-ah

Before a disco biscuit disco-nap

In Balearic sunshine I went out for a swim

But I heard they'd sent a posse to the rocks to do me in

But I met some friends with faces who were pretty mighty men

They told me if they come for you my brother

We will go for them

I whistled down a taxi just to save us all some grief

The taxi man had weed and pills he'd bought from the police

He'd seen me on the TV said he didn't like my songs

It's the only sense he made cause then he started speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

Ahhh, Ahhh

Ahhh, Ahhh

Everybody's sayin' take that, take that

And I'm about to do exactly that-ah

And I'm the cheeky f***er at the back-ah

Before a disco biscuit disco-nap

I met a girl from Preston who wanted sex right there and then

She lead me to a hotel but they wouldn't let me in

I begged and I pleaded with the man who owned the place

Eventually he'd had enough and punched me in the face

I made a promise to that gangster

That I would not commit to another night on the white I'd have to deal with it

But I had a poco loco mescaline comin' on strong

I really couldn't help it man I started speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

Speaking tongues, speaking tongues

Everybody on the island speaking tongues

I remember GB mentioning the Diamond Dogs. He said once RW got caught up with them, it put a wedge between Robbie and TT and it was all over.

Edit: great lyrics to that song by the way. B-)

This is such a great collection of songs, I prefer it to the original Under The Radar. I really like 9 to 5, Satellites, Go Mental and Booty Call!

Not sure Laura, I would have to check it out . I would think Better Man has the info on same , he is good at finding out the details

I really like the song , love when Robbie is in serious mode , does justice to the song

I am always wondering how all the great songs he has on UTR or as B sides would chart if he would on the peak of his career these days like between 2000 and 2003. The more I listening to other artists who are 'in' for certain years you can see them chart with everything good or not. If the peak time is gone, almost everyone struggles. I like this song

Yeah, it is a shame that things work like that. Robbie has released a lot of really good songs in recent years but none got the same exposure or success as he did back then. He is still doing phenomenonally well though with #1 albums still.

I was always a fan of the stuff that never did great in the charts .... could not believe it when he started releasing the UTR albums, best decision ever for DH fans :funky:

He had his time in the sun when everything charted and his time in the sun lasted a long time. He has to work harder for that now. But he knows that and he's prepared to fight for his place in music.

In fact he doesn't have to. He could just tour for the next twenty years and pocket millions but fortunately for us - he still wants to make new music, be heard, be original and move forward. It's the only way he knows how to be. He's an original. A throwback to a time when you were allowed to be different and un PC. When you could be a character and didn't always have to say and do the right thing. Thank goodness for it. If he were any different, I would have switched off years ago.
