As much as I dislike the video, Joseph Khan wrote a great response to "haters" calling Taylor manipulative/etc.

 

If I plan something as a man I'm a "genius." If Taylor as a woman plans something she is "manipulative." Double standards. This is wrong.

Err because I don't? I think it's ridiculously over the top, way too much imagery/"shade" over actual enjoyable content and she looks godawful (makeup/hair/"new Taylor"'s outfits). Are you asking everyone that's said they disliked it this question?

This. There are so many holes and so much reaching going on that it almost looks like a standard Tumblr SJW post.

 

1. Taylor isn't getting criticism because she's a woman. Had that been true, Beyoncé would get so much shit for "Becky with the good hair".

2. It's times like these that we separate the artistry from the person. Taylor as an artist I respect because this is partly her vision, and she executed that amazingly. Taylor as a person... I don't know if I can respect at all. If I crossed paths with her I'd be scared to death. She has a history of leeching off of people's careers. The only hit that she had that was a genuine apology was Back To December.

 

Taylor is being criticized for tons of things but being a woman isn't one of them.

I am OBSESSED right now with the ringing/siren/beep noise thing that comes in at about 3:15 in the instrumental of the song. Could well be my favourite production moment of a pop song this year, it's such a small touch but it just makes the final chorus go OFF! :wub:

I like this now, because of this. And also I'm a petty bitch and Team Taylor with the calling out c**ts of pop. Video was messy at first but the mashup really helped me to see her vision. I appreciate her making POP interesting. Also, I'm over ppl talking shit about her when no one else is getting ragged for singing/talking about her.
