Yeah no surprises they left it to rot to be honest, as it was such a huge bomb. The whole thing was a mess, but unfortunately it provided the template for any future Spice Girls releases: minimum promo effort from the girls. Similar happened with the GH release, which only saw like 2 performances in support of it and barely any other promo from the group itself.

Hopefully one day Forever will reach the 300k mark. Seems unlikely it will be within our lifetime specially now that the group is again non-existant lol

Interesting that it still managed to out perform all but 2 solo albums, many of which had much bigger promotion than Forever did over a longer period of time. Such a shame they didn't keep on promoting it I still think it could have had a healthy total like double platinum figures had it been giving a proper years promotion with 4 singles like it deserved. If you wanna have some fun with a shorter ending and a great video could have been a fab single and Get down with me would have been amazing

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

I'm always of the mind the perfect end would have been 2 more Forever singles Feb and May, IYWHSF and Tell me why. Then a mini tour in December 2001 like xmas in spice world but to support a GH with 2 new songs, 1 released as a single and they go their seperate ways xmas 2001.
Its too bad we still don't have the updated sales for the rest of the singles and albums...

Very random - 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' has re-entered the physicals singles chart at #48, which is its 58th week in the Top 100. It's also at #39 in the Vinyl Singles Top 40!

It seems that this equates to 10 or more copies (I only know this because I know that Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go, at #51 in this week's physical Top 100, sold 10 copies).

I looked back on my email history to see that I bought the vinyl from whatrecords.co.uk when it went on sale in December 2012, and as far as I can remember the vinyl was exclusive to this site. I seem to remember in 2013 it was shown to have sold out, but I can't be certain. I looked on the site now and it's on sale at the moment for just 99p - https://www.whatrecords.co.uk/items/he-aint...l-7in/58162.htm

Official Charts Company shared new sales for Bag It Up, the last update was 5 years ago. By 2015 it had sold "over 260,000". Now it's on "over 266,000". 6,000 in 5 years is pretty bad, but clearly Bag It Up isn't very remembered in the age of streaming!

https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/n...-the-top__8648/

They reveal that Bag It Up has had 448,000 streams since they started counting streaming data (which would have been since 2014).

Geri beat Blink 182's All the Small Things to #1. Back in 2015 OCC revealed that All the Small Things had sold over 470,000. 5 years later it's got a total of 1,070,000, which is an increase of 600,000. Sometimes I find the boost streaming gives to certain old songs to be pretty ridiculous. :') That means 56% of All the Small Things' overall sales has occurred in the most recent 5 years of its 20 year availability.

By the end of 2000, Geri had sold more copies than Blink 182, so at the time it was firmly the bigger hit of the two. Clearly Blink 182's song went on to be far more memorable, but its growth from being under silver certified, to being a 'millionaire' is pretty crazy.

2000 End of Year Chart:

42nd Bag It Up - Geri Halliwell - 255,000

67th All The Small Things - Blink 182 - 196,000

Just seen the OCC Instagram post and thought ‘ooh they may give us an update for Bag It Up’. I’m surprised it’s only at 266k

Like you say, some songs have been ‘extremely inflated’ with streaming.

6,000 is better than nothing at the end of the day, it's +6000 sales to her discography and let's be honest a brand new single probably wouldn't even sell that alone now.

If ever an article showed the importance of us fans streaming the girls music regularly it was this.

You say a new single wouldn't sell 6k but I'd not be surprised if Mel C songs and Baby please don't stop pushed a few thousand sales as they got streams which modern songs tend to get more than older songs.

I'm not surprised Bag It Up isn't well-remembered. I feel like if any solo song (not counting It's Raining Men) by Geri's remembered it's ironically Look At Me, which missed the number one slot.

This week's singles downloads chart:

#27 - Melanie C - Who I Am

#59 - Spice Girls - Mama

It is Mama's first occasion in the download chart!

I don't know the sales for either Melanie C or Spice Girls, but...

Billie Eilish at #26 sold 718 downloads / Aitch at #28 sold 673.

Billie Eilish at #56 sold 412 downloads / 24K Golden at #60 sold 399.

Remember last week didn't include Who I Am's first day on sale. It didn't make the Top 100 last week, and #100 sold 217 downloads in that week, so Who I Am sold less than that on Thursday 19th March. So the maximum Who I Am might have sold in 8 days is 933 downloads. I think we can safely assume it's at least managed 800-900 downloads.

I mean 850 downloads is fairly good for Mel C but it shows how rubbish sales are, Who I Am was top 10 for much of the weekend and top 20 for most of the week.

She should have had more confidence and released on Friday .

We all know sales are so low and she’s not going to chart but the song is fire.

It’s obvious she has done a song with Eilish ! I wonder what this will do.

Do we have any news on whether the new vinyls for Spiceworld and Greatest Hits were enough to push either of the albums back into the Top200? :)

Nope. None of the albums charted in the Top 200 since their release <_<

Latest issue of Music Week has given an update on the total sales for 'Wannabe', although it's recorded as "1,184,335". At first I thought this could be a typo and it's meant to be 1,814,335 but that would mean its selling ~800 copies in the 18 weeks since (total is dated to w/e 26 March).

OCC/MW do love to mess up the totals for 'Wannabe' don't they?

:drama: How annoying! Could 1,184,335 feasibly be its physical only sales? OCC stated 1,385,211 for physical and download sales in Sep 2017, could it have managed over 200,000 downloads?

I wouldn't be too surprised if it had exceeded 1,850,000 (with streaming) by now!

Perhaps, I can't think of anything else it could be other than a really bad typo. The figure is from the Hitmakers section of Music Week's magazine, they usually upload pieces from the magazine as articles on their main site later in the week so I'll keep checking for it to see if they correct the sales.
