I hate when the OCC do an update on the girls that doesnt include streaming sales. CD/download sales only totals are pretty pointless now, they aren't going to be going up by any significant amounts anymore.

Same.

They literally give the full total whenever they write up artists like Ed Sheeran, Little Mix etc (their pure sales won't be as high in this streaming age) but it's very annoying we don't get totals.

I wouldn't even mind if they said the total for this song is 1 million (900,000+ sales are physical) that sort of thing.

Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

Omg 3 weeks in the download Top 100! :cheeseblock: Obviously download sales are very low nowadays, but this is still a level of consistency I (sadly) wouldn't expect Melanie to be able to achieve nowadays!

It's had great support from Radio 2 and it seems that people are responding well to the song, but unfortunately the vast majority of listeners won't be people who download, and if they're streamers then they're very unlikely to come across it on Spotify (unless specifically searching for it). If only Spotify would take a chance!

My only worry at the moment is that Melanie isn't capitalising on this radio support by having an album pre-order, which is a shame because an album doesn't have to be ready in the sense of a complete track list / title / artwork to be up for pre-order. She could miss out on potential sales from people who are interested at the moment.

Blame It On Me

Download Chart Run:

29/05 - #66

05/06 - #89

out

26/06 - #80

Sales Chart Run:

29/05 - #66

05/06 - #90

out

26/06 - #80

[billie Eilish - Bad Guy sold 275 downloads at #81 / PS1 - Fake Friends sold 295 downloads at #76]

So about 40 downloads a day to get to #80 on iTunes. Can we please do another Buzzjack campaign but with Blame It On Me, we could literally get it top 40 iTunes exposure if we teamed together *.* I've already bought my copy of course x

Agreed about the album. I really hope she can get a top 10 this time, the sales of Version Of Me would put her at #9 this week gone and with multi-buying she can surely do it :cheeseblock: First Spice top 10 album since Emma's Free Me?

Not top 100 in Scotland, brb just attending the funeral of my country's taste.

Ah but it’s already charted at #61 in your countries OFFICIAL chart, the only official country chart position she achieved... your country is forgiven :w00t:

She is releasing more singles before the album. Like what Louise did!!

Maybe the next single is with BE and that’s when pre orders will start ?

iTunes isn't the only download store though so not every download will come from itunes. Amazon etc will be a percentage of the downloads as well. I have no idea what the breakdown is of the download market now though. But it will definitely be less than 40 downloads a day on itunes to be #80.

Not great sales for a number 1 !!

Love the song tho.

Agree. Always thought that I Want You Back and What Took You So Long? deserved much better sales as both were quite big smashes!

So many solo songs deserve Gold/Platinum status - In today’s terms, with how inflated streaming is, many of the solo songs would have been certified silver/gold/platinum very easily

4 weeks in the download chart for Blame It on Me :melaniec: It's at #100 this week :o It didn't remain Top 100 in the sales chart though.

The Weeknd - In Your Eyes sold 303 downloads at #99, so maybe we could assume 300 for Blame It on Me. Despite the 20 place fall, that is an increase in downloads for Melanie compared to the previous week!

Not the lack of physicals dragging Melanie off the sales chart :cheeseblock: She could easily sell out a run of 800 singles or so, that’d put her top 30 on sales surely?

If she had sold 300 downloads and 800 physicals, she would have been #21 on sales :melaniec: I wish she hadn't stopped doing physicals, particularly because her artwork is pretty good this era. Boo!

Who I Am on CD would've been  This and no album pre-order up, get it together Melanie!

Did anything from VOM get a physical?

Anymore, Dear Life and Room for Love all had physicals! (so only Hold On (and Numb if you count that) didn't)
