Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

^ Nice to see them have some chart action this week

Sales chart run:

(this chart didn't exist until July 2014)

1. 16/07/21 - #36

-

2. 03/09/21 - #8

Downloads chart run:

(this chart didn't exist until August 2004):

1. 16/07/21 - #34

-

2. 03/09/21 - #49

Kind of surprising that it didn't manage to make the download Top 100 the week after Olympics, although to be fair downloads sold significantly more in 2012. Spice Up Your Life actually did manage to chart, at #92.

Vinyl chart run

(this chart didn't exist until April 2015):

1. 31/07/15 - #24

-

2. 04/09/15 - #28

-

3. 09/10/15 - #22

-

4. 03/09/21 - #1

Physical chart run

(this chart has data going back to 1994, so given that Wannabe's 1996 run was 100% physical, that's technically a part of its overall chart run - its first 26 weeks are from that year)

27. 03/11/13: #4

28. 10/11/13: #10

29. 17/11/13: #51

30. 24/11/13: #99

-

31. 10/08/14: #71

-

32. 05/10/14: #72

-

33. 31/07/15: #40

-

34. 04/09/15: #47

-

35. 09/10/15: #34

-

36. 22/01/16: #58

-

37. 01/09/17: #83

-

38. 03/09/21: #1

(Thank you to Babyboy for finding out all of these positions!)

Technically its 8th week at #1 as a physical best seller lol

I'm happy with that. Would have been nice if it was top 100 on the main chart too but it's more than justified it's release with those positions on various charts.

Be nice if the social media acknowledged those #1s

Nice thank you for this information!! Do we know sales at all?...

I have some more information about Wannabe sales/charts from last week:

Total: 2,080,086

Last week's sales: 5,452 (this is without ACR applied to the streaming - this is the figure that is added to Wannabe's total)

Sales breakdown: 3,800 streaming units / 1,327 physicals (798 vinyl + 529 cassettes) / 325 downloads

With ACR applied (halving the streaming, which would result in 1,900), it would have been 3,552 sales that would count to the official chart. #100 sold 4,406, so it was 854 sales short of the Top 100.

They were just too greedy with the pricing for the vinyl and cassette, the Spice album cassette is £5 cheaper than a 4 song EP cassette.

Thank you! That does suck indeed, and it seems the amount of vinyls is similar to the previous ones... Really, charging £24 for a 4-track vinyl is a bloody crime!

Edited by Mr.X

It was £27.99 from HMV!

There you go, even worse lol

At least these new vinyl variants are less expensive, and they are for a full album! Maybe they did understand that the Wannabe vinyl was too expensive for what it was, even if it was a limited edition one (which I dont think it was?....)
I think Wannabe being last minute and limited (they definitely won't be printing anymore and didn't even get the allocation of cassettes out, it looks like the US won't even receive there's) probably gave them licence to charge whatever they wanted. The cassette is pretty much sold out bar HMV and as I said it looks like US orders of it have been pushed back but I heard may end up cancelled. So they will likely sell the majority of both editions at those prices.

With it being 854 sales behind, I can't help but think that somewhat cheaper prices for the vinyl/cassette and a CD single would have been enough for it to get into the Top 100. But never mind!

All about Spice 25 now of course, and I think they've been fairer with the prices for the vinyl and cassettes... at least individually, it's a pretty penny when buying it all at once lol. Might have been cleverer for them to offer bundles that were cheaper. I still think they're making a mistake with having just one expensive CD format. I find it a little frustrating when I see Steps with 8 CDs and I believe ABBA have 7 CDs.

A CD at a resonable price would have sold better, for sure. A lot of people, even a lot of fans, dont want to get a vinyl as they cant play it, and specially not one that is so expensive! It is still a niche market in many ways and the Spice Girls were mostly a CD-based group.

Totally agree though that the Spice 25 campaign should also - definitely - have a CD! URGH!!! These girls!...

Although, we also have to see for what it is: a re-release/celebration of a 25year old album. It is not a new album, so I get that this is mainly fan-service and not necessarily something to set the charts alight (but damn, it is another missed opportunity for sure lol)

Maybe re-enter in Scottish and maybe debuted in welsh chart too.

Are you able to check?

It is a pleasure for the collaboration :)

The funny thing is that Wannabe probably made more money this week than the #1 single on the charts

Wannabe second week....
