Sadly I don't think any of their studio albums will reach those targets any time soon. To the point we might not see it happen until the 2040s, lol, unless a reunion gives their music a very impactful

Wannabe and Spice World are out of all the UK charts...

Goodbye again Spiceworld. You were a victim of careless Spices and arrogant Universal design interns

YAY :w00t: It would be amazing if it could get there next year! 5 million sellers is amazing to be honest and Goodbye really deserves it as it is a masterpiece :w00t:

I wonder if they will do anything for its anniversary, thus enhancing its visibility, streaming and sales :teresa:

We have to campaign for Goodbye25 :cheer: Let's do it!!

Also having two Christmas #1s which sell over 1million is epic

Next up, I wish Stop and Viva Forever get there quickly eventually! Stop might do but Viva Forever needs a proper push

Considering When You're Gone jumped from 865,209 sales on 8th May 2020 to 921,000 on 27th May 2021, it has most likely already passed 1,000,000 sales! :w00t:

I have done god's work and updated the 'Goodbye' wiki page  :cheer:

I thought the song was around the 957k mark so to see it at nearly 980k is a nice surprise.

I see the 'pure sales' total is at 836k but I thought it was nearer to 900k?

Jay, what do you think?

By that logic it is on same sales as Goodbye actually around 977,000

How so? It increased its chart sales by 55,000 within a year. More than 18 months have passed since May 2021, which means it added to its tally 80,000 sales approximately.

Nice to get an update but sadly being a million 'seller' means nothing these days with recent songs having ridiculously inflated 'sales' from streaming.

They actually say that 836k is physical copies (pure would be physicals & downloads combined). 836k physicals seems to check out because it was originally estimated to have sold 835,000 copies in the 1990s!

A pity that OCC didn't share its download sales. The last pre-streaming figure we knew for it was 884,000 sales in December 2013, so at that point it was around 48,000 downloads sold. It's really anybody's guess how many downloads it has sold in the last 9 years!

I wish we were able to work out exactly what 8.8 million streams converts to in sales, but unfortunately it's not clear cut because of not knowing which streams are free or paid for. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong with this assumption, but I would assume this means that its streaming sales must be less than 88,000.

The last update we had for it vs. the new update:

17th December 2020: 949,000 total with 5.6 million streams

8th December 2022: 977,000 total with 8.8 million streams

^ So 36% of its streams have been achieved in the last 2 years.

On average it's been selling around 271 or 272 sales a week between the above two dates. Continuing at this rate would see it become a million seller no later than Summer 2024.

I think it's probably a correct assumption that When You're Gone has passed 1 million units by now, at least based on its sales trends in recent years!

My estimate is somewhere between 1,002,000 and 1,005,000.

A pity we have no confirmation of this, but if it's true then it's great that we finally have a solo Spice song in the "millionaires" club!

Triple post... :kink: but based on their recent-ish figures and their assumed weekly averages, I think there's a possiblity that Stop could have passed Too Much by now! :o I've got Stop estimated as possibly having sold 756,000, with Too Much on 755,000.

Will be weird to think of Too Much being demoted to being Spiceworld's worst selling single. Particularly considering that at the end of the 90s it was actually the album's second best selling single, at which point it had sold 655,000 and was around 30,000 ahead of Viva Forever and 325,000 ahead of Stop!!

Too much is their worst single anyway, Holler and Headlines deserve to be above it too.

 I guess you cant buy taste...

Too Much has not grown as much in people's admirations as Viva Forever and Stop have, which is interesting but I can understand why as it wasnt as instant a song. It's very beautiful and one of their best, but for the general public it is clearly a harder sell.

That's on people's lack of taste and the radios wanting more instant hits rather than quality though. I'm glad it was a single AND a #1 AND a Christmas #1 that sold really well!!

Or it is just boring and goes nowhere. Save for Mel C's middle 8 it is pretty much a snooze. It kills the vibe on tour and they know it which is why they tried to jazz it up in 2007.
