October 12, 20196 yr Author Greatest Hits spends a second week in a row outside of the Top 200! Found out some interesting information though! Total sales as of Fri 11th Oct: 618,462 Weekly sales up to Fri 4th Oct chart: 794 sales [#200 sold 805 sales // Greatest Hits 11 sales behind] Weekly sales up to Fri 11th Oct chart: 757 sales [#200 sold 780 sales // Greatest Hits 23 sales behind] On Fri 4th Oct, Greatest Hits would have been #204 On Fri 11th Oct, Greatest Hits would have been #210 Of the 757 sales it managed last week: 503 - Streaming / 216 - CDs & 25 - Vinyl = 241 physicals / 13 - Downloads Two weeks ago (Fri 27th Sep), the album achieved 542 streaming units, 284 physicals & 19 downloads to be #171 with 845 overall sales. Two weeks of not being too far away from the Top 200 is a bit frustrating! I hope it can make a return soon.
October 12, 20196 yr Thanks for the info Jay. I guess it charting top 200 would be nice but as long as it stays over 700 sales a week that is the main thing. Be nice if something gave it a random bump, a performance from a contestant on x factor or something similar.
October 16, 20196 yr New article from Music Week about the Spice Girls signing with CAA Talent Agency Within the article they've given the current updated sales for the first two albums in the UK Spice - 2,984,879 Spiceworld - 1,603,426 :w00t: :cheer:
October 16, 20196 yr They haven’t gone up much have they, I was hoping Spice would be on over 3 million by now (although technically it was on over 3 million before they downgraded it’s sales!)... not surprised about Spiceworld since it’s not longer in print...
October 16, 20196 yr I think it was 2,979,000 when the tour ended so it’s gone up by 5,000 Spiceworld reached 1.6m in the Summer so good to see it nearer to 1.605 - would be better if it was in print either on CD or a new vinyl
October 16, 20196 yr Author They haven’t gone up much have they, I was hoping Spice would be on over 3 million by now Spice had sold 2,979,898 as of 21st June, and 16 weeks have passed since then - to have reached 3m by this week, Spice would have needed to sell around 1,256 sales a week on average! However, its weekly average over the past 16 weeks is 311 sales. At this rate it may take another year for Spice to pass 3 million, but hopefully they’ll become active again within the next year so that it happens more quickly. Spiceworld weekly average is 145 sales!
October 16, 20196 yr Wow, the current Spiceworld weekly figures could be so much better. Imagine the physical sales of that album post the 2012 Olympics if it had been on the 2 for £10 offer in HMV the last several years would have made a difference. It truly baffles me.
October 16, 20196 yr Author I really don’t understand why their label doesn’t focus on Spiceworld either :( Really strange to treat a huge album with such indifference.
October 16, 20196 yr I guess it is nice to know between the 4 studio albums each week in the UK they are selling over 1k copies.
October 16, 20196 yr I really don’t understand why their label doesn’t focus on Spiceworld either :( Really strange to treat a huge album with such indifference. I really wish they would get their shit together and do a re-edition with Spiceworld just with HMV, put it on the 2 for £10 offer and let it sell a few thousand a year. Plus, they could totally do a Spiceworld, Forever and Greatest Hits (properly) vinyl limited edition. Like do only 5000 copies of each. They will sell and it's a nice fan thing to have! It's a shame that Spiceworld doesnt get any love from the record company. I know Spice is technically more iconic, but Spiceworld is like the second biggest girl band album of all time in the UK (probably Top10 internationally?). What a mess

October 17, 20196 yr Author Somewhat off topic but it's pretty impressive that PCD (#7) and The Writing's on the Wall (#10) both sold over a million copies, considering those peak positions!
October 17, 20196 yr Impressive that Sugababes have 3 in the top ten. I never realised Saints & Sinners was such a come down after All Saints debut, but I guess that's what happens when you break up in the middle of the campaign. Edited October 17, 20196 yr by tommie

It's such a shame that they broke up in the middle of the campaign. That album is sooooooo good! Black Coffee is probably one of the best girl band singles ever in my opinion.

I believe Dreams was penciled in to be the fourth single? A shame they just imploded at that point - the album would've never sold as much as their debut (1.4m), but I could've seen them pushing it to 700-800k at least with further promotion. IIRC they cancelled their promotional appearances for All Hooked Up, obviously they were majorly imploding as a group during the holidays. Edited October 17, 20196 yr by tommie
October 17, 20196 yr 4th single? You mean with Pure Shores as well? I never saw that as a lead single for the album, as only ever thought of it as a single from the Beach film ah. But I guess that makes sense. Nonetheless, a total shame they hated each other back then. They were one of the best girl bands ever. Their debut albums and pretty much all their singles were incredible. IMAGINE this run: - I Know Where It's At - Never Ever - Lady Marmalade - Under The Bridge - Bootie Call - Pure Shores - Black Coffee - All Hooked Up - Rock Steady
October 17, 20196 yr True - Pure Shores was released over six months before the album, but at the same time it IS the opening track and feels like it belongs on the album. Normally tracks that are made for other projects and then tagged on to an album usually end up sounding a bit out of place and are often placed at the end of the albums as a result I guess. I assume the plan was though to release at least two further singles after All Hooked Up, which didn't do that badly considering they ditched all promotion for it.
October 18, 20196 yr Author Disappointingly, 'Spice' didn't re-enter the top 40 vinyl chart following its white vinyl re-release! Apparently only 500 copies were printed, but I'm not sure if this is true.

I was keeping a look out today for the new vinyl chart hoping I would see ‘Spice’. How many copies are vinyls selling on average from 1-40?
